GCI or Olhausen Grand Champion.

Given the choice between the two, all things being equal, which is the better table and why?

Depends on what you think makes a "better" table. From an installation standpoint, Olhausen all the way. The GCI blinds are a PAIN to put on and get them to stay on. Olhausen install is very straight-forward.

From a playing standpoint, it also depends on what you like. The Olhausen will probably reject more balls because of the angle and shelf of the pockets. If you like a slightly more challenging table, I like the Olhausen. If you're a more traditionalist, GC all the way. Great tables in their day and there's a reason there's still so many old Gold Crown fans.

If money is an issue, I think you could get a GCI a little better price than a Grand Champion. Both tables tend to hold value pretty well though.

If you want my REAL opinioin though in that style of table....Diamond Professional ;)

And a third!

If it's possible, get a Diamond, they are by far the best table out there at this time!
And no, I do NOT work for them, just love their tables!

Yes, I agree about the Diamond, but it's out of my reach. Unless you know someone that can get one set up in my house for no more than $3K.

Actually, I know of 2 9ft Diamond professionals with oak rails in TX for sale, let me see what I can find out about them, I think they're both in your price range.

Glen

PS. And they're not that old, built within the last 3 years I think, they've been in storage for the last year or so.
