GCIII pocket casting bolt

A couple of the pocket casting bolt inserts ( T nut on other tables) are stripped on my table. Can I use T nuts instead? or how do I repair the stripped out hole so I can screw in the insert again?

drill it out and tap the hole. then get a bigger bolt to go it the re-sized hole...replacing the t-nut would probably be a little easier.

If i understand correctly. You have a gold crown 3 and are talking about the casting bolt. The bolt threads into a metal insert that has internal and external threads. the problem is the insert is now spinning. If this is correct
the only solution we have luck with is a 2part epoxy to glue the insert
back in place. Make sure not to use too much where it comes up inside the insert or you will have to clean it out before reattaching.

This is why i really have a problem with the threes. I think this was a poor design on brunswick parts. Installers take some blame too!!

Some hardware stores carry these inserts or you can try and retap original

If this is in fact your problem, in which I agree with scruffy, one other thing to keep in mind, is the reason the threaded bolt inserts were broke off in the first place is because the pocket iron bolts are to long. When they're a little to long, they bottom out on the screw that is used to go through the tail end of the insert to keep it from spining or pulling out. To long of a bolt runs the bolt into that screw, then pulls apart the insert at the point of the wood screw. Look inside the insert hole and see if there's any remaining part of the insert before you try installing a new one;)

Thanks for the replies. Yes, what Scruffy and RKC describe is my issue. RKC, the previous owner of the table did indeed used longer bolts on three of the castings and that is what caused the insert to loose grip and spin. Also , the longer bolts pushed that set screw back and created a hairline crack on all three of those rails.

I bought the correct size bolts, actually there were a lot missing. I could not find the inserts so I bought T Nuts which I think will not do a good job in the long run because if I tighten it too hard the nut will back out.

Thanks again.
