I saw his name mentioned here so i watched his match v Earl on youtube

He is amazing for such a young player. Awesome break, great potter cool head

So obviously he is one of the future stars of American Pool

But will he want to go into Professional Pool fulltime ?

It was just posted yesterday or day before-he is not pursuing a pool career.

I believe he is off to Lindenwood University on a billiard scholarship!

(So he might be getting more lasting value out of pool than most US Pros, over the next 4 years)

Good for him and I wish him much success in the future!

Landon is a heck of a player for sure and I believe he is on a pool team while attending college. Also noteworthy is that Mark Wilson is the coach of the team.

I'll fix your post title for you----- "Gee that Landon is a good kid !". Good kid is #1, good player is #2. That's how he was raised and it shows.

Yes, he certainly comes from a great family as well. He's a smart kid for sure.

Don't you think it's sad that in so many other sports, a youngster as talented as Landon would be getting ready to go pro, whether it be tennis, golf, NBA, NFL etc etc

But with pool, he needs to forge another career with pool as a secondary thing. There's never gonna be another generation of world beaters if the top young talent feels it cannot commit fully to the sport because there isn't enough money in it.

I'm not sure that was ever the case...our very best pool players (for the most part) tend to die with little or nothing but debt to leave behind. Landon's smart enough to know he needs to prepare for a real career/family/life...and can still play top level pool without living in his car.

I personally love that Landon is making the right decision. Yes, it's sad that there's no future in pool for such a talent but it speaks volumes as to how well he was raised. From what I hear he is considering going the route of his grandfather and becoming a doctor....

Most talented 19 years that would have a career goal of NFL, etc would be going to college on scholarship in that sport prior to going pro.. which is what is happening here...

SVB isn't young anymore... Where is the next generation?

Yesterday's poolplayer living and winning millions only to die in debt is gone! That is because they can't even get started today. There isn't the same money to be won today and likely won't be there tomorrow. Our pipeline of talent is dead. Think about our youngest gun. SVB? I think about him as if he is young, but he's 30. Twenty years ago and before there were a ton of players popping up in their early 20s or even younger. Now, SVB may have learned to compete through the gambling scene but his direction in pool was from his grandfather (and some other family members). He was not trained in a dark poolroom by people trying to make some easy money. He had direction that was thicker than water. I guess you could say that he has his head on right. Tomorrow, the players are going to have to rise through the ranks of weekend regional tournaments. And that will train them much slower than the hard life "on the road." It's a changing world.

I think that Landon is going in the right direction. I am not sure that someone in a true dedicated career has time to devote to professional pool on the international level. Don't know his ambitions as far as his career plans. But, getting started in life will be a full time job. Shannon Daughton is a great example of a talented enough poolplayer to be internationally competitive. However, a full time billiards tour makes that difficult. I wish Landon and Shannon the best, but they may have "higher callings" than playing. At least, if their smart.

I would like to say landon is a class act all around as he is my teammate at Lindenwood. He is definitely a fantastic player but his class out weighs that.
