I had some fun last night, watching the poolactiontv.com livestream out of Tallahassee Florida at Zingales pool room.

It's kind of funny, how you can see all of the bad things that others are doing, while you're sitting at home, eating chips and cheese.

Gene was playing Jesse Engle in the semi-finals and it was clear that the two of them were tired as they could be. These multi-day tournaments can take the steam out of your game.

In Mobile, AL I remember Gene teaching one of his students his signature measuring system for calculating the cut angle on an object ball and in the Tallahassee tournament, Gene used that measuring technique in the match with Jesse on three different occasions and made all three, difficult cut shots.

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to see Jesse and Gene again in the near future. They don't normally get this far South. Hope they both come by Buffalo Billiards in Metairie, LA .

Joey incase you did not know, Jesse moved to Florida with his girlfriend. You might be seeing him a lot.

You forgot to mention "Perfect Aim".

There I did it for you.

:boring:

Comments like these are why I drastically cut down on reading posts because there is so much latent animosity in what should be simple conversations. Someone comments on how good Gene's playing and then some knuckle-dragger has to inject dumb comments about how this post must be a push for Perfect Aim.

Having been a perfect aim student I'm hoping you don't take the class. Does that improve your mood?

Agree, imo this sort of post can do nothing but make the forum shittier and stir the pot. If someone has a disagreement with either aiming systems or gene's plugs, they take it up in those specific threads. There's a report thread button, a red rep button, and you can always PM MrWilson.

In the meantime, injecting venom into a harmless complimentary thread will not improve anything for anyone.

I totally agree. I am happy to see more and more AZ members calling people out on this kind of stuff. Keep up the good work guys.

Thanks! I did not know Jesse had moved to Florida. That is excellent for us here in the South and Southeast. Maybe he will make it over to the White Diamonds tournament in November.

I'm not calling for a vigilante movement of any kind, but I agree with your post. If more of the silent majority spoke up against those type of posts, we would see far less of them. Unfortunately, many people remain silent, watch the train wreck, sit idly by and wonder why the forum is going to hell.

Gene played great all tournament long until the end. His tournament reports are AWESOME and WE ARE ALL LUCKY to have a guy like him, gracing our forums.

Most of the top players don't want to give our forum the time of day and unfortunately, you can't really blame them.

I met Gene in person as I was leaving Tunica. I also met Lee Brett at the tournament, and as we were waiting for our ride to the airport had a nice conversation with Cliff Joyner in the lobby of the hotel where we stayed. They are all nice guys. My experience with pro players has always been positive. Stevie Moore was funny when I asked him a question about his cue at last year's Derby. As he was walking away he looked back and said, "That will be $200." I understood where he was coming from. Its a rough life out there. You are so right though Joey A. I think we lose a lot of quality posters on AZ because of a few jerks.

I believe management has come to that understanding as well and they are taking a stand.

It's difficult to monitor all of the negative posts, mixed in with all of the good posts and besides, it's a thankless job.

I got the impression that Basement Dweller was commenting on Joey's habit of plugging products (Joey did "plug" Gene's teaching). Maybe the comment was out of place anyway (I'm not commenting on that), but I didn't get the impression it was aimed at Gene.

pj <- been wrong before (I think)

I think Patrick and Basement Dweller understood exactly what was happening !

Spot on Joey..I'm guilty of not giving kodos where there do.I like hearing the
reports on the bigger tourneys..locals are okay too.
But your right, there have been times a pro pops in an some
Just has to heckle them..sheesha.
Have a good week man...ooh an shoot streight.

I often wonder what the hell is wrong with YOU people. Why wouldn't you comment if Basement Dweller's comment was out of place?

The forum is suffering from people just like you.

The fact is Gene performed exceptionally well in this event and it was remarkable that you could actually see him performing his measurements that he teached in his Perfect Aim course on different occasions where difficult shots were needed.

It's none of your business what I say or when I say it. You are sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong. If you don't like my posts, put me on ignore or report my posts to the management.

Your ultra-thin guise of helping posters understand Basement Dweller's post is a testament to your guile. They can read for themselves and don't need your interpretation.

If I was a professional player, I certainly wouldn't waste my time in these forums, getting heckled by these haters.

Thanks for voicing your opinion. I'm afraid that it will take more than just opinions to shut the hecklers up.

Whats wrong with the plug..as long as it doesn't fill the front page..
Yeah..keep the instructional stuff where it belongs.
I'm thinking times are hard,an people are just cutting,
to just feel something..

If you keep crying wolf(in this case, "buy"), everybody's going to see your posts as another advertising scheme. It's the same thing that you're complaining about, only different. On top of that, there's a majority of regular pool folks that don't read this either. That doesn't mean that they would otherwise.

I really don't care, as the aiming thing's moved into it's own thread. Still, if the pot wants to call the kettle black, you guys go right on ahead and keep doing what you're doing.

I read the post earlier and the first thing that came to mind was a plug, which wasn't there. The fact that the thought was there says enough about what some people expect from the posts, unfortunately.

Aside from that, Gene's been doing pretty well since his injury and may even be enjoying himself more from what I take reading some of his posts. Good for him, he's worked hard for it and genuinely enjoys both playing and teaching the game.

Banks,

I'm being respectful to you because I see nothing disrespectful about your post.

And since most of your posts are reasonable, let me ask you a question, what difference does it make to anyone, you included, whether or not someone gives a "plug" to anyone else? Why should it matter to anyone?

I'm going to be who I am and I'm going to do what I do until the management tells me otherwise.

I believe that it is far better to promote the sport of pool in every aspect than it is to run around the forum, calling fellow posters names, making mean-spirited comments, arguing about which aiming system people should be using or trying to tell someone that they are just dumb for listening to certain recommendations, constantly making negative comments about things that don't interest me or that aren't to my way of thinking or constantly whining about a forum member's style of posting.

If anyone has a problem with my style of posting they should just put me on ignore. Isn't that the best way of dealing with something that you detest? I'm not going to change. It's who I am. No one is going to change me. I'm going to be polite, courteous, respectful and friendly to everyone until they show me that they don't deserve to be treated that way. I'm going to keep sharing my knowledge with others no matter what anyone says. If I choose to write about Gene's measuring system as a part of the accolades THAT I CHOOSE TO BESTOW on him, that is my right and I'll continue doing it as I please, unless the management asks me not to. Then I'll either discontinue doing it or just leave the forum.

For me, when I don't like a poster's writing style I simply ignore them without putting them on ignore. The only time I respond to their negativity is when they try to needle my ox or me, otherwise, I just don't read their posts.

I realize my post is rather long and I apologize to Gene for having the thread go in the direction it has. It was his day in the sun. 3rd place in a field of talent like this is something to be proud of. And his measuring system for cutting balls REALLY is remarkable.
