Not a "ID this cue" thread, but in general, can a ADAM cue be dated to a time period based on the logo?

I've seen 3 different logos and my googling makes me believe the early ones may have had just stickers on them.

Some had logo stickers. Mostly the lower end ones.

Even some of the newer ones just had a sticker.

Some had no logo at all. You can find the same model with and without logo.

Sometimes you can date them with a logo... often not.

You'll have more success dating one based on features such as pin style, bumper style, things like that.
.

That's kinda what I had decided lol, just wasn't sure.

I think ill go ahead and pick it up

Thank you, and you can burry me with my joss as well.

It's probably easier to date them by the joint. Adam cues have gone through a whole bunch of proprietary joints that are very unique.

So I go look at the Adam in question last night.

The cue was light, my guess, maybe a 17? very light in the hand.
The was short, like 53-54"
The "veneers" where decals or paint...chipping showed the wood underneath.
The shaft was snooker cue small
The shaft had a brass pin, short and fat, only 3-4 threads. (the butt had the female box thread)
The butt had a lion logo but no wording.

Cue rolled great and was straight but beat to hell.

The cue played remarkably well, I was shocked. well balanced, moved the cue ball nicely, did everything I asked it to and I'm kinda wishing I had offered him $10 for it.

The guy claims it was his dads stick and dated it 1965ish.

Any ideas?

Post pictures or we can't help you. Painted on points means it's a cheap import.

yeah, unfortunately I didn't take pics.

Cheap import? I thought al Adam cues where cheap imports ;)

LOL, but seriously, did Adam do painted points?

And there cant be a whole lot of shafts out there with a pin on them is there?

In all honesty, the first though that came to mind was "its a cheap copy" then I strung 6 good shots together and thought...wait what?

Found the pin on google : classic Schmelke brass

only issue is, this cue had it on the shaft, not the butt.

Any ideas?

Adam cues started in 1970.

They produced many low end decal cues. That's what you found.

Some of them were even Ramin wood, which is now endangered in no small part because of the many cheap cues that were made of it...and furniture as well.

Yes, they did painted cues and decal cues on their low end lines.

Yes, generally very low value.

Some people might be interested in collecting such cues, but even then, very low value.

You can find them occasionally on Ebay in new condition with all the original stickers on them.

That is not to say it might not play decent. Might be a good starter cue for somebody or a bar cue.
