Hi all,

First post on this site, looking for opinions. I recently purchased this cue and am awaiting arrival. I hope I didn't make a rookie mistake by using my smart phone for purchase! After I got home and blew up the photos something(s) just don't look quite right to me. No dots over the "o" in Schon and the diamonds don't look like they could poke an eye out???

Looking for any and all feedback/opinions from all you gurus out there.

Thanks in advance,

MOORHEAT

It looks like a Schon someone refinished and tried to save or recreate the Schon in the butt cap. No one in their right mind is going to counterfeit a Schon.

I've owned a few Schons....bought about ten right out of the shop.
Evan said it's arbitrary whether the 'O' has an umlaut or not....does it when he feels like it.
Any Schon I've had with sharp points were the early ones.

I'm calling this a real Schon.

It is a newer Schon you find the sharp points and sharp pointed inlays on the 82-85 Runde R Series they have the stitched joint collars as well..

Is it possible someone tried to pantagraph the Schon logo from another cue? When I broke the butt cap on my break cue many years ago, the cue repair guy asked me if I wanted the logo done in that manner.

Looks just like my SL-7, only with green veneers instead of red. Very nice cue.

The only fake Schons I have ever seen were on eBay and called "Schon II". They were so obviously not real Schons that it was laughable. I wish I had taken a screenshot.

Schon

Its real an was made while Bob Runde was still their. Made between 1989-1992
nice cue. They play great as well.

It is clearly a Balbushka which someone tired to convert to a Schon.

Just kidding - looks like a Schon. If you are curious which model it is, this site may help you to determine the model.

I was trying to remember what site had the larger catalog picture, thanks for the link.

Here's a couple of other SL-7s but with red veneers like the one I have. Notice no umlauts over the O in Schon on these either, and all have rounded points.
