There doesn't seem to be a thread here specifically about George Balabushka. I just ran across this while looking for something else. This is from the February, 1976 issue of the pool/billiard newspaper American Billiard Review.

I grew up in New Jersey and started playing pool in 1961 and had never heard anything about Balabuska pool cues.
It was Palmer and Paradise.
In fact as a kid one of the adults took me to Paradises shop.
All I remember about it was a tall thin gray haired older man with an apron on covered in saw dust.

I don't have many hits for Balabushka in my newspaper database. Just a few mentions in articles about players' favorite cues. Nothing about build process, etc. I suppose that's the typical result of extreme secrecy.

Friend had what he thought was one of George’s Cues. He let me try it, hit was like Semi Fully Loaded going 10 MPH, hitting VE Bug. Thud, very solid.

He sold Cue to collector, it was refinished & authenticated by Pete T.
