Get out from here......(champions only)

The 2 replies to my safe shoot are.............

The 2 replies to my safe shot are very low percentage shots. I don't know if you guys are just that much better than me OR Maybe you live in Disneyworld - ie: Fantasyland.

I am curious ...

I'd masse from the 1 to the 2. Once I'm on the two, it's fairly routine.

I am interested in you describing this masse you are going to perform. Can you describe it more in detail as to how you are going to masse the cueball after
you have made the 1...

You're simply jacking-up and hitting the right side of the cue-ball. So long as it's firm, the cue-ball won't curve until after contact so there's really no adjustments needed. However, hit it correctly, the cue-ball will take off up table toward the 2. It really is a pretty shot and is very practical from short distances. You can even reverse the path of the cue-ball in situations where you've fallen on the wrong side and must go the other way. In situations where I've fallen straight on a shot on the rail and must get off the rail, I'll always consider this option. If I'm straight and really really close to the object ball, it's a hanger.

The title of the thread is "Get out from here". I don't think anyone is considering safety play.

Your safety is the correct play however, it's no lock. Although you'd be favored to win the game from that position, I'm absolutely certain I could make it more difficult for you. Depending on the precise position of that 5, I know I could 4 rail the cue and bump that 1 w/o leaving much of a shot. If I can't go that way, I'd deliberately tie something up which wouldn't be too tough. Regardless, I'm certain to get back to the table. Even though I'd be fighting from the ropes, I'd still have a chance.

Low percentage??!! I'll empty my pockets that I can hit the shot as described and I'll even lay you 7-5, how's that for low percentage?!

Anywhere you hit on the third rail between the first and second diamond is a guaranteed hit on the 1 ball, and the lower you hit the more likely it is that you'll get safe by coming off the fourth rail. If I can't hit that big of a target coming off two rails then I'll hang up my cue forever.

I tend to agree, the hit is not that tough (ignoring the other balls). Gromulans hit is a standard 2 rail shot with a little high-percentage 1-rail kick at the end. The only problem I can see is if the 1 ball is frozen to the rail.

I am fascinated by the options presented for the 1-to-2 shape, thanks for the ideas.

GROMULAN - Where do you live? OR will you be @ the DCC?
We can set the other balls up just like the original question in this thread with the exception of the cue ball, 6 & 1. They go where I discribed them after my safe shot. Did you happen to see a 5 or 3 ball?
It's now your shot - for $1,000 a game ??? - 5 GAMES AHEAD FOR $5K.

You got action. The kick as i diagrammed it goes right around the 5 ball anyways and the 3's not even in the equation. I think you'd better try the shot a few times yourself.

In fact, lay me 5-1 and I'll bet I can hit it 10 times in a row! Lay me 20-1 and I'll hit it 100 in a row!

The shot he describes as jumping over the edge of the 3 to get to the 2 is actually shot #215 in Robert Byrnes "Complete Book of Pool Shots" (350 moves every player should know). It's almost the exact same layout as what's in the book. He says the shot is rather easy to execute.

Lets just play the games.

Lets just play the games starting as I discribed. Where are you and are you gonna be @ the DCC ?

Yeah, that's an interesting approach. Jump to the rail and come out for post. That might work out sweet.

I'll bet on the kick, not on the game (if we take the 3 off the table I might bet on the game, though). I'll probably be at the DCC. We can even play a set of nine ball, if you want. Bring money :)

Damn Grom, you're really tryin to talk me into coming to the DCC huh. I wouldn't mind being on the rail for this kick, if you want some side action OHB, you can have some from me too. I've been on the receiving end of some of these shots and would gladly put my scratch up on Grom's side of the bet.

Y'all are on crack! I don't care who Grom is. He's starting off this game hooked on the 1-ball. As I said earlier in this thread, there are ways to help your cause but you're still the underdog in this game. 1:1 action is a loser.

We have THE game - Lets Play It.

We have THE game that we both agreed to. That is THE game you accepted and the only game I'll play 1st.
Are you backing down from YOUR challange?
After that game is over I'll be more than happy to Match Up another.
After all, I'll be $5K ahead.

TY & GL, Cause you'll need it!

The kick is just his 1st shot.

And - YES - I'll take all side action.

Let me reiterate - I agreed to bet on the kick, not on who wins the game. Save the cheap hustles for the suckers in your retirement home.

GROMULAN - Remember this ???

GROMULAN - Remember this posting of yours @ 11:54 am today? -

You Stated - "I actually had this shot at the US Open once, guy had me on two fouls too. Believe it or not I actually ran out - cue ball knocked a ball in the side and I banked the one and ran out".

I believe this is where the game "We have already agreed on" started.

LOOK BEHIND YOU - THAT'S WHERE THE "BACK DOOR" IS!

Yeah yeah, like I say, spare me the cheap hustles. I hear two hundred of them every day. Next you'll offer to "tell me where I got my shoes".
