Getting casino betting back and new sponsorships

you are 100 percent right it is just speculation . but if you truly believe it wasnt a dump you are blind to the evidence or just being stubborn..

I think matchroom is trying to distance themselves from the gambling side of pool to make the game reputable and I don’t blame them.

I just re-watched the BH-ML match and that last combo was far from a hanger. So much mis-information on this whole deal. The fact the event kept going, with a line on it, tells me whatever happened the casino wasn't too upset. The M. Sigel description on that FB video is probably pretty close to spot on.
I’ll tell you how good people watch shit.

Dayton Ohio. Joe Burns pool room.

Earl Strickland vs Buddy Hall

Earl breaks a game and doesn’t make a ball, goes and sits.

Buddys playing with his tip annd what not and a few minutes later mosey on ups to the table.

Grabs the cue ball and places it where he wants and runs out.

There was no foul and nobody said shit. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think I’ve seen Sigels video before but I’ll have to find it and watch it to be sure.

Hell their whole business model revolves around gambling in one way or another. Gov't regulations could alter that for sure. Those may be on the horizon.

Your answer to that post shows that people just don’t know what they’re saying.

Distance themselves from gambling. 😂

Promoter Bob Halloran told Mike they lost 12GH's on the deal. If true that's less than chicken feed to a casino.
The size of the loss (the number I heard at the time was 45K, but still chicken feed in the context of a sportsbook's handle) is clearly not the issue and it never was. The only question that must be asked is whether the loss, very minor indeed, but well-known, stunted the growth of gambling action on pool with the casinos. I'll always believe that if the Mirage had a more positive experience in booking pro pool, other casinos might have followed suit. Of course, we will never know, but whether fair or not, this incident placed pro pool in a negative light.

Yes and no. I think they try not to talk about it too much in their coverage of pro pool. On the other hand, Matchroom looks to sportsbooks for sponsorship dollars in both pool and snooker. For example, Betfred has been the title sponsor of the Mosconi Cup.

its not just one shot buddy missed it was all that happened that lead up to the winner. hardly much was bet on anyone else. but 11 tickets for the max amount allowed was bet on mike.
the casino had a contract to continue and the amount wasn't much and the rest of the time the lines were short no 20 to 1 shots.
and the casino was fairly new and certainly didn't want to cause any speculation so it was natural to keep it quite and not worry about the 40k loss.
and they more than made it up on other things related. and if anyone pushed it the gaming commission would have to get involved and it would then be a national scandal.
but is over the black eye has been forgotten for the most part and life continues.

Yep. In the big picture this whole deal was non starter for the casino. Now if it was a major boxing funny business people would have died. I was playing a lot and around a lot of players in those days and no one even talked about this deal at all. Had zero effect on pool overall one way or the other. It was a 8man casino deal, no one cared then or now.

You gamble or used too quite a bit.

You ever dump yourself? I’ll bet you’ve missed shit where it looked like it.
nope never dumped. but did stall a lot. won lots, and had and still have a perfect rep.
took all side action for myself never had a partner in my action, and wouldn't ever let others bet on me with my opponent.

The “dump yourself” was a sarcastic line. I guarantee you’ve missed shots you never thought you would.

👍🏻

I wonder if we’ve ever seen each other somewhere.

you wouldn't let others bet on you?? just how the fk did you accomplish that? unless you traveled with a 7ft tall tush-hog i'm calling bs here.

Matchroom would never distance themselves on their own.

Of course the government is involved in shit they shouldn’t be. In every country they are doing such a great job at everything they do. 🙄
Nothing looks to be imminent but apparently there are butthurt libs over there that hate gambling in any form. They keep pushing their bs woke agenda.
