Often overlooked in these discussions is the equipment.
Any "ghost" exercise could vary greatly in difficulty depending on cloth speed, pocket tightness, and table size.
A slow, gaping bar box, is no where near the test a fast, tight 9' Diamond is.

He played it 8 ahead for $7800(if I remember right)lost the first 7 games and came back and beat it.I would have bet all I had on the ghost if hadn`t a flat tire and was late getting to the poolroom that night.It was the best flat tire I have ever had.
As for your speed question you would probally be able to judge it better playing the nine ball gost in a race or a ahead set.See which ball (you) or (they) can consistently run out too.
The table also has alot to do with it like was said prior.
