When I was on the road playing pool for over 20 years, I didn't even know my wife, let alone have a family.
As soon as I settled down and started a family, I also started a legitimate advertising business (which now is in 24 states) from the ground up.
I can't figure out if your naive, dumb or have your head in the sand. If you don't think there was A LOT of business done at The Capitol Cue Club back in the '70's, YOU WERN'T THERE! There was more business done on some days than was done on Wall Street.
Your feeble attempt at a reply to my question tells me volumes about you.

As you know, I would like to play a little earlier, but I will make do with your time frame. What will we be playing for? - Say $200 a game? I will also post for as many games as you feel comfortable with. Win or lose, I will enjoy the action, as I know you’re a man of your word and will follow up with this pool challenge you've made.

Okay, if anything changes....you have my cell #. My user name is watchez, I went to the site to get a feel for it and lose a couple of games. I always feel that random generators give the weaker player a better hand. What name will you be under? I will probably have to give you a call.

One of my fondest memories of Detroit was during the '70's. I found myself charged with various crimes & offences in Niles, MI. The only way I was going to beat the charges was to testify myself, as I had a local attorney who was "In" with the Prosecuting Attorney and the jury trial wasn't looking very good at all for me.
I had to testify as what, where & why I was in MI - so I told a version of the truth about myself & The Capitol Cue Club and being on my way there. All of a sudden the tone of the trial changed to asking me about the poolroom and poolroom customers and less to do with my charges. To this day, I pride myself on the performance, explanations and testimony that I stated at that trial. Bottom Line - I beat one charge and got a hung jury on the other.
I left the courtroom and went straight to the Capitol Cue Club. As you may know this only took a few hours and very surprisingly, as soon as I walked into the poolroom, I was met by 3 fellows, (Joe T., Freddie S. & Paul). They all shook my hand and said I did a great job in Niles. They also said -
I WAS A "STAND UP GUY", so that is what I'm going to "Hang My Hat On"!

Sorry Tom, some confusion as my last post was an offer to play Gin Thursday night & read your post too fast & didn't pick up that you wanted to play pool. We will surely play the next time I am out (on the weekend) but I have no intention of playing pool during the week. Getting up at 7AM makes it impossible for my eyes to focus without a nap afterwork. Gin, I can sit here in my underwear & play just fine. But yes, I am looking forward to the game. I haven't played anyone with the ball and the break in a long time. Not since Cecil left town. I offered the game to others since but they always turn me down. Glad you have the skillz to say yes.

As far as we know I'm sane.
I've never done drugs and don't drink.
My I.Q. is quite high (but I guess that doesn't mean I couldn't be stupid).

LOL. Trust me, I was there and I think I know a little more than you about what went on and it wasn't like what you want people to think. There could have been bodies around here if someone admitted dumping like you did.

I didn't ask any questions myself, just stated my opinion. Which question did you pose that you wanted an answer to? That did I think Red and Whitey were thieves like yourself?

WELL....ONE OF THEM WAS. The difference is Paul instigated it himself by staking them BOTH and got a big kick out of it. BUT ONE OF THEM WAS STILL A THIEF LIKE YOURSELF.

Like I said, all you have to do is justify your life to yourself.

All I can say is you are 1 of ONLY two people that I know of to ADMIT to dumping on the internet (why you would admit it is beyond me) and have no guilt or remorse or at least SAY you feel bad about it now. If you would have said any of those I might not have been as ticked off as I am but who the hell am I and does it really matter what I think? I think not.

In closing at least I can tell you that you are an HONEST thief.

How in Hell have I kept pool from being all it could be? What I was speaking of happened over 30 years ago and it was a common practice among players who crossed paths a couple of times a year. If you’re upset with me for just telling the truth, so be it. Or maybe you were one of the backers.

THE PROBLEM WITH POOL ISN'T DUMPING - IT IS THE LACK OF OPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIECENT LIVING FROM POOL THAT USED TO NECESSITATE THE DUMPING TO BE ABLE TO EXIST!
I no longer rely on a pool income to pay my bills and or meet my responsibilities so I try to be as informative as I can in this forum.
I notice that your Personal Profile on this site lacks much info where as mine is an open book.
My oldest and most successful sales rep is in the Plymouth, MI area and I find myself in the Detroit area a couple of times a year on business. I also have many fond memories and friends in Detroit. Maybe we could talk this over.

I know your involved in some of the wagering even if your not present BUT that is exactly what Paul Spears used to say. The difference is that he never was.

I 'm looking for a job i;m a very good salesperson been in cable 12 yrs got mad when i didnt get payed as promiced but sure am looking no bull e- mail me tell me what you have i;ve trained ect been doin sales 25 yrs , cold calling ect if you know me you know how good i am but im goin to move if cant get good $$ im used to 60 or 55 yr!!!! these foke have never been where youve been why even worrie dont wake up the sleepers Brier would bar you from the Huntington Hub pool Room & you would be eating at the big boy instead of that roomin house!! I just got Eddie Taylor a Silver Doller Money clip with One Pocket H O F from steve& me diana mike janes for his Hall of Fame thing April 2 in Shreveport its goin to be fun Talked to C J Dick lane, John Hager sr. Buddie hall ect may be action you know how I stir it up Why NOT!!! Lots of Fun The Horseshoe just opened up a nice poker room tuesday also e-mail me cover up thoes kids & keep them warm! LOL B.J.

Steve - If you don't or won't honestly discuss the past - you will never learn from it. I can understand that some people want the '60's, 70's & '80,s to seem romantic and adventurous and some of it was. But if you don't mention the down sides (like dumping) there is going to be an elephant in the room that will diminish anything positive.
I NEVER SAID I WAS "PROUD" OF THE DUMPING THAT OCCURED, I SIMPLY SAID, "I HAD NO REGRETS".
Would I have done (or not done) some things differently in my life? - YES - And Who among us (over the age of 18) wouldn't?
I don't try to justify my life; I just try to explain it truthfully. I figure that EVERYTHING I have done so far has brought me to where I am now.

You are 100% correct about body's being found and that is why (to my knowledge) it NEVER went that way.

Watchez - As you may or may not know there was quite a bit of action at the poolroom on Tuesday night. There was 0, zip, nada last night but there is supposed to be some great action tonight.
I INTEND TO BE THERE AT THE TIME YOUR SUGGESTING WE PLAY GIN.

The original subject of this thread was to get the members of AzBilliards (from all over the country) to play gin on-line with other members including me.
Yes, I will play you gin on-line, but it is not a top priority right now as we can play anytime. If you have a laptop, we can even play "In Person" at any Panera Bread store in our area (they all have WiFi). I just did that for a couple of hours yesterday and it was great. We were able to sit across from each other and play gin while having coffee & bagels. I would also have no problem playing you while we are both at home as I have no doubts of your ability or integrity to pay IF you were to lose.

If you have read any of the articles or spoken to anyone who has known me for very long, you should know I am "All About The Hustle & The Cash" - to quote Buddy Hall in the now famous St. Louie, Louie-OHB Poster.Gin is a game that takes time for "The Cream To Come To The Top" and (in my opinion) playing a few games (especially short games to 100 points) doesn’t mean squat. You may as well "Flip A Coin" which no one can ever say I've done. I HATE GAMBLING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now this brings us back to your challenge to play One-Pocket with a handicap of 1 ball & the breaks.
You have named the Game, Handicap and the price of a game - $200.
I have accepted. Lets Play!
As almost everyday finds me at The Break about 4 PM and until at least 10 PM, I will await you appearance & or reply.
