Give me the Cheesehead Sampler

I'm at the point in my pool game where I'm willing to spend some money on a decent production pool cue (under 700) as my main shooting cue.

Till this point I've been shooting with a low end Pechauer (JP Series) with the stock 13mm shaft, LePro tip.

I'd prefer the cue to be made in Wisconsin (shouldn't be hard there are tons of good cue makers here).

To be clear, I don't want advice on which cue is "the best." There is no such thing, we all have our preferences. I'm looking more for advice on how to best discover my own idiosyncrasies.

But if someone could rattle off a good 4 or 6 different brands that all hit differently, I'd like to get a good sampling of unique styles of hit. I want to buy a few cues and shoot with them for a significant period before making a final decision.

Also, I've had a few people suggest buying a cheaper cue and spending the bulk of my money on shafts. I've never hit with a laminated shaft, but they do peak my interest. Is the hit that unique that it's worth a try?
