Give up on my JB Case or my Mezz?

I have a problem here....

I own two Flower Tribute cases with the Ultrapad Interior.

I LOVE both the 2x4 and the 3x6 case.

Last week I purchased a Mezz break cue with the sport grip.

I LOVE my Mezz cue.

The problem is that the sport grip catches on the Ultrapad interior really bad and I cannot remove the cue... when I do; half of the wrap either rolls down or gets messed up. I then have to spend 5 minutes fixing the wrap.

I was thinking about taking it to a local cue repair guy and having him put on a Linen wrap... I just dont know it I will like it as much as the sport grip.

My other option is to go back to a Swift case with the tubes and keep the Mezz as-is.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Any easy solutions?

I had this issue along with some fellow local players. and fortunately, I received a cue from Bryan Mordt, he wrap his butt with a butt-length nylon, so I used it, put the Mezz with rubber wrap in the nylon, and I could pull the butt out of the case with ease, putting it back in is also a non-issue.

hope this help.
Cuong.

Jb cases may have a fix for you. I bet he has had this issue come up at least once or twice.

Agreed.

From everything I've read from John, he probably has a fix for you already, and if not I bet he'll come up with something for you.

I and a friend ran into this. Cuong offers a great solution. Failing that, I bet a plastic sleeve (like many cues are shipped in) would do the same job. I wish I had thought of this when I had my Mezz..............

I had a similar issue..
My Fury Break/Jump cue's butt, which has a rubber grip would get stuck if I tried putting it in my 2x4 case. Another thing that got stuck is my old playing cue's bumper. I couldn't get it out so I just pushed it in the bottom. Part of the interior on that side got messed up and now I can put the old cue there and also tried butting the Break/Jump butt and it fits better, but still I'm not risking messing up my case further.

Hi!

I am in the exact same boat as you are. I have a JB Mason Case and a Mezz Power Break Pro with Silicon Grip.

I use a really cheap plastic sleeve that a cheap cue was shipped in. It works perfectly for me. The cue butt goes in smoothly because of the plastic. The plastic slides into the case perfectly with no issues.

Hope this helps! I would never risk damaging the interior of the case.

Or simply use one of those plastic bags they put outside shopping malls to keep your wet umbrellas

Can you put it in butt cap down, then, when your ready to take it out, screw the shaft on and pull it out from the business end? I always put cue butt down anyway. I don't know if the wrap will damage the padding over time, but I wouldn't think so.

No.. the butt end down is the worst.. entire wrap almost comes off each time.

I think I am going to try the plastic as that seems like a great option.

OK.. I tried the plastic sleeve and since this is the Ultra Pad interior.. it works but it is VERY tight.

I am not sure if putting anything around the Butt would work long term because of the tight fit.

OK.. I got a PM with the best recommendation thus far.

PANTY HOSE.

I hope my wife does not mind but I just took a pair from her drawer for testing and I think it is going to work.

I wonder how long it will work though before I have to change it out. It is very thin material that will probably tear pretty easily.

Just don't appear that you enjoy having the p.h. around too much when your buddies are nearby! I would love for one of my guys to show up with panty hose!!! He would never hear the end of it...lol

Daren----just couldn't resist

I know right!

I will cut it so it looks like something different.. I guess I could give my cue a female name so it would be more fitting :p

Heck no! Leave the crotch portion and the other leg attached, it will be a great sharking move at the start of every one of your matches when you take the whole thing out of your case.

You guys ought to be careful using plastic bags, any sort of moisture content whatsoever can cause sweating. Not something you want around your cue.

We make a sleeve for this. I guess I am going to have to start sending a sleeve with each case if cue makers are going to continue with the sticky rubber grips. 20 years of making cases they never fail to make it tougher. Super long pins, sticky wraps, thin butts thick butts, short cues long cues........

Anyway :-)

We make a sleeve but the pantyhose will work as well. Sterling Gaming has the sleeves in stock. www.cuesight.com you have to call them for this one. I will bring a bunch to the SBE and give them away to JB case owners.
