For me it all comes down to respect and situation.

Respect:
If my opponent and I have mutual respect for one another's abilities then yes there will most definately be some concessions between us on very easy shots. If it's a player that I am unfamiliar with or is unfamiliar with me then no concessions will be given until I've seen his speed and I'll expect none either. Under no circumstances do I EVER expect my opponent to concede any given shot to me. I SHOOT 'EM ALL unless my opponent says, "thats good" or the like to let me know he's conceding.

Situation:
Never concede any shot in a tournament! We've all most definately scene the miracles that can happen.

Never concede anything if your being backed. It shows no respect for your backer's money and that might be a relationship you want to maintain in good standing!

Enjoy playin' folks!

Especially if the other player is a jerk, then they are shooting every ball in, no concession, none given and none asked for.

LOL Yeah, jerks are morally required to shoot every ball and ensure the C.B. comes to a complete stop before touching it as well! No mercy for 'em! :)

it depends...

I was watching an A player in my area play a match in a $1000 added tourney and he didn't make his opponent shoot the 7 out. I asked him after why he did this and he told me he didn't want his opponent to get too comfortable at the table.

I personally will give it to some and not others, depending on my mood that day.

Considering how many threads there are entitled "how do I stop missing the 9 ball?", I do not concede 9 balls. I've some pretty crazy stuff happen.

There is one exception though, if my opponent is playing like crap and they are behind an insurmountable number of games I have on occassion conceded a questionable 9 ball or two out of sympathy.

That's when I normally start to smile and say: "Let us see if you can atleast make that ball"

Why not just change the rule, if you scratch or foul making the 9 ball, you lose.
Wouldn't that solve a lot of problems?

How can there be a rule about 'no consessions' if it is against the rules to un-screw your cue you lose?

True competitors appreciate the execution of a performance. When your execution is worthy of applause, a tip of the hat by your competitor is an excellent form of respect.
To conceed the 9 ball after runing a very difficult rack layout is just paying respect to the player's performance.
Conceeding the 9 ball when you scratch and your opponent has BIN is just another way of *****ing about scratching.

Is this a foul or a concession?

I hate it when someone wants you to shoot the money ball and then stands next to the table with their hand in the corner pocket waiting for the ball to go in so they can start empting the pockets.

Put your hands in my corner pocket (without saying "that's good") and I'm raking the balls. :p

I believe this is the standard, eh? Although I don't know the exact rule in tourneys. I would assume it is a foul. Please provide an assist.

its a legit move sometimes and shows respect, I guess times are changing 55% awalys make their opponent shoot it-wow.

I voted to shoot and I respect the players... just a little less than my $. Thats why I like them to pott the last ball. Plus, I hate to loose and that give me one more shot before I do so.

When I see that I ask if they're conceding, and if they say no I say then get the hell away from the table.
