Giving up the 9

yup, baneres can shoot. I also think Ronnie has not been playing full time though. And at that level the 9 doesnt really matter. How many racks are you going to be able to get on the 9 and not be able to get on the 10 (1 out of 20?).

I am sure it was more of offerng something just to get him to play for the $$$. But, yeah I would love to see more of Baneres.

I suppose the moral of the story is the incredible, unbelievable strength and depth of the Philippines pool scene.

One thing I learnt over the years. It doesn't matter what spot you get if you don't shoot much. I saw Corey Duel play Tony Watson once when Tony was playing at his best. Race to 7. Tony won the first game and never shot again for the next 7 racks. At that lever its all about the rolls that day and who is making balls on the break. The PH has some of the best players in the world that never leave the country because they just don't have the money to do so. JMO

Trying to imagine the reception a pinoy would get if he scraped up the travel money, flew over and first thing he does is step into a pool hall. It's like a Kenyan showing up at a cross-country meet. I'll pass, tyvm!

Why do they mark the ball locations?

They play a lot of rotation. Rotation being a cueball fouls only game they have a referee mark ball positions. This practice just became the norm when there is a significant bet on the game to warrant a referee. But, now they mark ball positions even playing other games like 10ball or even 9ball.
