I would definetely stop the sale of your favorite cue ASAP. There are alternatives to your condition. If you truly love the sport, you will find a way.

oh did that yesterday....need the money too, but my main motivation was that I just don't want to play much, and that really goes to wanting to avoid pain.

I'll try the suggestions given both here and in pm's...and thank you all

Only sometimes. I once had $10,000 in hundreds from a tournament that I had to deposit. I discovered then that you have to fill out a lot of extra paper work for that large a cash deposit. I didn't really keep the wad in my back pocket -- that's what the briefcase is for. But I have seen Bucktooth with two giant carbuncles in his front pockets formed from impacted $100-bills. In his case, they seem to attract players with more greed than sense.

I used to work auctions in my youth. Had a guy pay a 10,000 dollar bill with 1's, 5's, and 20's. Mostly 5's. Want to talk about wads of cash....he had it under his hat, in his socks, in his pockets, just about everyone on a body you could put cash. Only took like 2 hours to get him out of the building, luckily he waited until he was the last guy.

I noticed back pain about a year ago while playing pool. I immediately went to my small collection of exercise books and found some exercises for the lower back and the belly. It was the thing that got me to start exercising again.

Since then, I've lost about 20 pounds and the back pain has gone away too. So I'd advise spending some time at the book store in the exercise and weight loss sections. Gotta drop the weight man.

Best of luck amigo.:)

I had really bad back pain every day, chiro couldn't fix it so 1 day he asks me how much caffeine I drink ( which was alot ) He told me to stop drinking it between 2 and 3 weeks later no more back pain. just another suggestion. Ron

I had the same symptoms, more or less. Once it was so bad that I could not turn over in bed. The doctor gave me pain killer and muscle relaxant. My solution was to take my wallet out of my left rear pocket and move it to my right front pocket. Really. I have not had a recurrence. Maybe I changed something else at the same time, but I read somewhere that a consistent twist on the spine (like being two inches higher on one side, due to my wad of hundreds) can cause this.

I had had slight back problems from time to time in the past. It was pretty much always on the right side. I did the same thing. I moved my wallet from back to front (it was on the right side as well), and I have never looked back. The only time I move it to the back pocket is when I am shooting. I don't have the same problems I did. I have to do some heavy lifting to bother it now.

I have an office job, and often lean back in the chair, lean sideways, prop up one leg, etc. I think moving it to the front helped me because of the way I sit all day.

So it sounds like two things:

The first is you need cash, so sell if you really have to.

Secondly, playing pool causes pain and why play if you are in pain and not enjoying it. Your situation reminds me of old movie dialog between a patient and doctor:
Patient: "Dr. it hurts when I move my arm"
Doctor: "Don't move your arm"

It sounds like the primary reason for your decision is to avoid pain, so if that's the case, I would not quit on the game just yet. Instead I would use pool as a goal or motivation to continue to seek treatment. But that's just me...

Good luck with your back!

Ask your Dr. to get you some Duragesic patches.

You wont feel a thing and play like a champ.

until you go off them, Fentynl is a heavy schedual 2 drug, its stronger than morphine, dilaudid etc, its dosed in micro grams the others in milligrams thus the equivalliacy is 10 times stronger, i used small patches after a back operation once for 30 days, bad stuff, it covers the symptoms they dont help the problem. your titraiting or pumping drugs into your body 24/7. bad stuff.
