What glue holds the tip the best?
I was told Locktite 401 or 454. Opinions?
Thanks

Tweetens

I use to always use Tweetens before I started taking my cues to Jeff Eason for repair ....

Instant Krazy glue

Buy it in tiny tubes good for doing two tips at a time, so you aren't wasting the stuff in a great big tube of other stuff.:D

Hate to destroy all the purported secrets of tip replacement:D

The small tubes aren't bad, but it doesn't compare to Tiger. A bottle is on my lathe bench at all times. I must replace a couple of tips every week, so I'm a higer volume guy than most.

I always found tips put on with super glue, especially non-laminated tips, have a horrible feel due to the extra hardening of the base of the tip, due to the superglue being soaked up into the tip.

I used to use Tweeten's, but recently switched to Sumo Polyurethane glue by Loctite. Seems to work really well, and has less foaming than the Gorilla glue.

Hah, i thought I was the only one who had taken to the single-use tubes. They're perfect for the occasional tip replacement. The only tips I replace are my own, so I'm not a high-volume sorta guy. So for me, these work perfect. I've also used the Super Glue gel which works great.

Gorilla glue = MESSY

I've used gorilla glue before and it is like an EPOXY. really gets messy once you smash the tip on the ferrule. oozes out of the sides and really hard to keep it neat.

Krazy/Super glue works good too.

You used too much glue. Also use the white one.
Not the dark one.

Superglues are too noisy imo.
Loctite 454 is the fastest and best for superglues.

I've only re-tipped one time, for a friend, I used Elmer's Glue and AFAIK the tip (a moori) is still on and going strong, even tho it's used for play and to break with. Probably sounds silly but if it works *shrug*

Yup, I sure did.... and I used the dark brown glue too. I'll have to keep my eye out for the Loctite 454. :)
