Gold Crown 1, too loose!

The room I play at has a gold crown which is the action table. This beast plays so loose even I can run out.

Shims?
Longer rubber?

Please help. I play sets for enough that the table matters to me. I hate it when a guy slops a ball in that has no business even being close.

Input?

(I did a search for gold crown shim and the results werent what I was expecting, for all of those "use the search feature" people.)

to do it properly you need to get subrail extensions and then have new rubber put on and the correct facings.

in a pinch you can take off the old facings and put 1/4" 60 durometer neoprine facings. but this won't decrease the pocket size by much.
stacking facings (shimming) is not recommended .

there are a number of mechanics doing subrail extensions ...depending on what area you are in see the mechanic directory above.

There is no one in Canada that can do this type of work,if you ask in this section you might get someone coming up this way.I have a delivery soon, but the snake has to slither right back to Houston when he is done for Diamond,to recalibrate 21 tables there. The guys who can do this are very busy.

I find this a little hard to believe. Not saying you're incorrect, just shitty if you're actually right.

I know Shooters in North York has a triple shimmed black crown, I'll ask them who did it.

Shimmed pockets don't play right. If it's a GC1 then it's more complicated then you think. If it still has the original Monarch Superspeed cusions they will need to be replaced. There isn't a cushion made today that fits properly on the Gold Crown and replaces the Monarch's. The rails should be recalibrated to fit one of today's profiles. Corredting this and tightening the pockets properly by extending the subrails will make the table play like a dream, I know my GC1 does! It cost me more to have it setup and have the work done than it did to buy the table, but now it play's like a dream.

Same as the room here in my town, but if you triple shim the pockets you will get the reverse effect, well stroked and hit balls will spit out for no reason.Be willing to spend the money to properly fix the table or order from Brian @ Diamond a brand new or factory rebuilt/recalibrated pro-cut unit.

If you guys up in the frozen north are willing to ship the rails to me in AZ I would be able to take care of any type of rail repair/calibration you need. PM or email me if you are interested to discuss price and logistics.
