I can get a used gold crown 3, 9ft table which has been checked out by a table mechanic and is in great shape for 3 grand. Rails are perfect, New Simonis or Centenial cloth, my choice. This is delivered and professionally set up. How does this deal sound? I have to check a few more used tables but the table is being held for me until I make my final decision. This is the pro model table too.

The metal Brass behind the pockets is not in the best looking shape. Any ideas on how I go about refinishing this? This table looks sweet otherwise. I am so psyched about getting a new table!

That's an OK deal.
Great? Not quite.
Thats a pitiful deal. You would be paying top price.

I have a Gold Crown III in great shape that I will sell for $1750 FIRM CASH & CARRY. Located in St. Peters MO. I have sold 10 of these, all to happy customers.

Like Joey said...OK, not great. The GCIII is the least desirable of the four generations of GC's. Even knocking off the $500 or $600 for delivery, set-up etc, it's still a bit steep. Should be around $2000 to $2100 as you specified (delv'd, set-up, new cloth). IMHO, keep looking.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

A little expensive,

i watched ebay and haggled a guy from fla out of a diamond pro model, with diamond lite , balls, and rack for 2000. watch for ebay tables and when they dont sell make them an offer, i had a moving copany pick it up and deliver, just take your time and look for some deals,

OK, I stole a GC II for $975.
I found a pro-8 Centennial for a friend for $750. I kid you not.
I found a Sport King at a senior complex for $375.
Deals can be had but you have to be patient and know your stuff.
Used GC III's here can't sell for more than 2k. They just don't.
Olhausen Pro C sell for even less.

As a point of reference, a local room owner recently sold a GC III for $1500. The buyer picked it up, had it set up and recovered, but I don't the additional cost.

Getting a solid pool table that is inspected by a knowledgeable pool table mechanic that I know will last me for years is a little more important than the price factor. Although I haven't gotten the table yet and will take my time looking. I'm just concered with paying a cheap price for a table and getting stuck with a table that has a major problem that I don't detect and paying tons more to get it fixed and going through all that hassle.

Thanks for all the comments about the deal. I'm glad I posted this on here.

I got my used gold crown 3 for $1700 from the owner of the pool hall (Goodtimes billiards in Van Nuys Cali.) where I practised almost daily. I took all the metal parts off and had them replated (bronz) at a plating factory in North Hollywood ($200.00). I then put new acufast rails (about $100.00), simonis 860 cloth, and my pockets cut to slightly under 4 inches ($500.00). The $500.00 went towards the pool table mechanic's work of setting up my table and making my pockets smaller. He did a awsome job. My table plays as good if not better than the tightest pocket tables at Hollywood Billiards. Many of my family members and friends that have seen my table often ask if it is a new table. Good luck with your table.

Snake, does the Accufast cushion make the rails too fast or just right?
Who was your mechanic btw if I may ask?
Thanks.

pocket castings

$3,000 is probably $500 too much.Having said that in my area it is hard to find a used GC. A pool hall here in Saint Paul MN had the pocket castings power coated. They came out beautiful and last. The rubber rails if needed should be replaced with Brunswick superspeed rubber or a similar K-55 rubber. If you use K-66 or acufast rubber they play funny and change the playing surface size to larger that 50 x 100 inches making the diamons off. In the early 90's I bought about 25 used Gold Crowns for an average price of $1,600. I had to tear them down, move them, buy new cloth and put new rubber on some of them which all averaged $500 apiece. So, maybe delivered and installed $3,000 isn't a bad price. JP

Try to talk them down to $2500 and you will have a good deal. If they won't come down that far find out if they will negotiate at all, if they say $2800 you can probably get it for $2700. If they won't budge at all then you have to decide if you care enough about saving a few hundred to not do the deal. I know here in L.A. you could probably get the same thing for about $2000-2200 but I don't know if that kind of deal would ever come up in the Bahamas.

Christopher, I have pulled my old add up in the Wanted/For Sale Forum cb

I like the way your table looks and its at a good price but the granite part scared me off a bit. And I really love the gold crown tables. Plus I want to get one locally so I don't have to worry about traveling 100's of miles or having it shipped over.

Thanks for letting me know about your table though. Looks like someone who knows something about granite pool tables will be getting a good deal.

I did learn something about granite recently though. I was watching this show on PBS about how Granite is a radioactive rock and would take a couple million years to get hot enough to boil water. But I wasn't scared off by the granite because of fear of radioactivity :), just so you know. More about the playability and how long and durable the granite would be.

Yeah, I am gonna try to talk em down. The table alone is priced at 2800 and its $200 for setup. So I am gonna offer $2400 setup/taxes included. I figure it I start low I can still go up in price and make out with a o.k. deal.
It's so hard to haggle on such a nice piece of billiards equipment. For the amount of play this tables gonna get, its actually priceless to me.

I really like the way my table plays. It is fast, but very precise. I noticed that I play with more finesse, I don't stroke the cue ball as hard. The mechanic that set my table up is a guy named Jose Luis he lives here in the Los Angeles area. Good luck in finding a table. Peace.

Got the table today. I got it for $2900 setup, delivered, and new centennial cloth. Taxes included.(around $180 I saved on taxes alone)

I called another dealer in RI and they were offering a slightly higher price on a gold crown 3.
I also checked out all the used ones for sale in the area and after setup and delivery, I was going to end up paying close if not more than 2900 anyway.

I figured if I got a table used for 1800 lets say. Add $500 for setup and delivery(thats what the 2 reputable companies in my area charge), thats $2300. Add $300-$500 to have it recovered thats $2600-$2800. If the rails need to be replaced thats more $$. Not to mention that I did not find any used tables going for $1800. They were going for around $2500 table alone.

Can't wait to play on it!
