Gold Crown: connecting rails to castings - is this normal?

Haven't put my Gold Crown together yet and I was checking to see how tight the pockets are. I screwed a corner casting to the rails and noticed that I the cloth prevents the casting from getting tight against the rail. You can see about a 1/8" gap between the casting and the rail in the pic below. Is this normal?

Seems like a bad design on Brunswick's part because you're forced to staple the end of the cloth between the rail and the casting. Or is there some other way to do it such that you can get the rail/casting tight?

Put up a picture of the end of the rail without the casting so I can see what it looks like where he stapled the cloth.

PS. While you're at it, let me see the side pockets as well.

Thank you, gentlemen. When I get home this evening, I'll take some more pics and post them up.

You pretty much have to put the staples between the edge of the facing and the end of the rail in that small 1/4 in angled area and then trim off the extra. If not you get the look you have and not a tight fit like you desire. Use a sharpie on the staples if they stand out too much.

That is a good idea. It does sound like it takes some skills to get it just right, as on mine it looks to be maybe only 1/8".

It looks to me like if I could get it tight, it would actually tighten up the pocket opening a little bit, which would be nice.

cuebacca...I gotta ask...would you please turn over the rails and take a picture of the stapling of the corner pockets and side pockets?

Alright, I'll find some 860 and bring it with me...I may even have some in my truck, but I seldom use any anymore as mostly everything I touch seems to turn into blue...LOL

Glen

PS. In fact, if you paid to have your rails recovered ask them for your money back and some new cloth for the rails so they can be re-recovered.

LOL. The bed cloth I have is definitely Simonis 860. The rail cloth should be as well, but a few "bad rolls" have already happened with these rails, so if you happen to find some handy... not a bad idea to bring it. ;)

The story, unfortunately, gets a lot deeper. Maybe I'll give you a call tomorrow and see if I can't get your input. I'm sure you've heard of everything by now, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually a new one. LOL
