Interesting News!!!

I just noticed the 'Q and A' selection on the IPt website says it is down currently undergoing maintenance.

I just thought that was interesting ... maybe some kind of answer will be there when 'Q and A' comes back online ... lol

It's been down for a while now, about time you noticed. They must be doing LOTS of 'maintenance' (sheesh, replacing content is typically a very straightforward and fast exercise, except, I suppose, when you have no idea what to say).

also, ahem, except when you want to remove the business about players being paid as soon as they're eliminated and the comments that you're guaranteeing the payouts with your personal wealth....

Perhaps they are on a nice little cruise with KT on his little yacht.

Deno is still lurking. He logged on at 9:30 this morning. I wonder why he doesn't log off and then lurk?

Since when has the IPT given a rat,s a$$ what we or the players think? Don't you know this is all part of the plan?
IMO, I actually think all the small prizes will be paid out. The larger payout winners will be offered 20% cash [ or so] or a monthly instalment in smaller amounts. This will make the top players even more dependant on the continuation of the IPT.

It is only my impression, but this post seems to serve no purpose other than to be gloating over your opinion that the IPT is done. Is this what you were hoping for? Are you just sitting around waiting for bad news? Are you going to be happy if the IPT fails? Will your life be better without the IPT? I don't get it. What was your purpose in posting the above comment?

Could it be that KT's tax advisor (Mark Lane I believe) is meeting with the IPT players individually to advise them on how to receive the money and how to invest it?

It may take quite a while for all of the players to make that appointment.

Once all the players have met with him then the money will be doled out.

Smorg, he is just running his mouth because he can say what he wants without consequences. That is what is know as CS my friend. He has a problem with me for some reason. I just hate to see pool players who need their money getting the run around. I will take care of him when we meet. I ain't saying I am gonna whip his azz, I am saying that when we meet, he will realize we are on the same page in a lot of areas.
God bless em buddy!!!

Purdman,
I don't have a problem with you. I do have a problem with all the negativity that abounds on this forum regarding the IPT.

As for Smorg's comment about whistling while passing the graveyard, when I read it, I took it to mean he was making an observation about the death of the IPT. I think it was an unfortunate choice of words, but I believe his explanation.

I think most of us are still hoping the IPT works out, but I believe there are some who are rubbing their hands in anticipation of seeing it crash and burn. Those of us who want what is best for pool are all hoping for a different outcome.

If yours truly were on that tour, I sure wouldn't want to be baby sat through a financial seminar. Just pay up!

To be honest with you, Steve, nobody is standing around praying for the demise of the IPT. A lot of people would like to see it succeed and grow and provide a future for the players and the billiards industry. Some of us can see the cracks in the foundation and we have chosen to speak up and say something. You view that as negativity. I view it as reality. Ignoring those cracks or tossing money at them won't make them go away. I said a year ago that if these problems were not dealt with that the IPT would implode. Here we are a year later and I hope that is NOT the case. I hope that every player gets paid and that every player goes to Chicago for the next event. I hope Kevin is taking care of business and ensuring that the next event is just as successful as the last 3. I also hope this "check" discussion has been a waste of time. I believe that all of the players will be paid. In my opinion, the worst thing that could happen is for the IPT to fold right now. It needs to regain its momentum and move forward through these problems.

These forums are to exchange ideas and engage in interesting, thought provoking conversation and discussion. If everybody agreed with everybody it would be a very boring forum to read. I have my views. You have yours. The disagreements and the clash of opinions is what makes us different and it is what makes this forum interesting. You may seem to think that this is just a bunch of IPT bashing, but ideas from this forum have been used and implemented. That is why I know that Kevin and Deno read and hear what we are saying. I think that is a great thing and in the long run it will add - not detract - from their success.

Blackjack,
As usual, you make very good points. I have no problem with anyone pointing out problems with the IPT. If you can't see the problems, you can't fix them. If I am working with a student and I see problems with their game, I need to point them out, not ignore them. The student has to understand that any criticism is offered as part of the improvement process. I also need to help them find ways to address any problems so they can fix them. If I tell a student "Your game sucks, and your father is a crook", I'm not helping at all, I'm just stirring up trouble.

It is possible to address negative issues in a positive way. THAT is what I would like to see more of on the forums.

Why isn't Charlie Williams and all of his UPA cronies mouthing off about all of this? After 30 years of tournaments, we all know if Barry is 5 minutes late with payments, at the Open, it will be plastered all over the internet. I guess, when you are a billionaire, you get a little more slack from the UPA.

Charlie Williams and KT are 2 birds of a feather....they are BOTH scheisters!!

Really

Only a pool player could believe that in the second year of the IPT they would be paid $100,000 guaranteed. Let's see, 150 players, $15,000,000. One thing I don't think Kevin Trudeau is is stupid. Since when does everyone in the field get paid? All sports have a cut line. You don't get paid if you don't make it into the money. How this is a con, I don't really understand. Was KT counting on a lot more money from qualifiers? Somebody fill me in what you think KT stands to gain from all this.

KT stated from the very beginning that the entry fees, qualifiers or whatever was not going to produce enough revenue to support the tour. The real money comes from television advertising and broadcast rights. In order to have that, you have to have a product to promote. The tour is the product, and the players are much like actors in a television show. You have to pay ALL the actors, not just the top stars. His plan is to pay the best players, and then sell the program.

Wow! Now that's quite a statement. I hope you don't know what that word actually means.

In the interests of clarity, I googled the word and came up with this definition from Answers.com:

shy·ster (shī'stər) pronunciation
n. Slang.

An unethical, unscrupulous practitioner, especially of law.

[Probably alteration of German Scheisser, son of a *****, bastard, from scheissen, to defecate, from Middle High German schīzen, from Old High German skīzzan.]
shysterism shy'ster·ism n.

WORD HISTORY Calling someone a shyster might be considered libellous; knowing its probable origin adds insult to injury. According to Gerald L. Cohen, a student of the word, shyster is derived from the German term scheisser, meaning literally “one who defecates,” from the verb scheissen, “to defecate,” with the English suffix –ster, “one who does,” substituted for the German suffix –er, meaning the same thing. Sheisser, which is chiefly a pejorative term, is the German equivalent of our English terms bastard and son of a *****. Sheisser is generally thought to have been borrowed directly into English as the word shicer, which, among other things, is an Australian English term for an unproductive mine or claim, a sense that is also recorded for the word shyster.

Also, http://dictionary.laborlawtalk.com/ethnic_slur#S the term is an ethnic slur:

#
# Shyster – U.K. Commonwealth & U.S., a Jew. Also a derogatory reference to lawyers of questionable ethics regardless of their ethnic origin.

With this definition and word usage clarified a bit, do you still maintain they are both what you say they are?

Even more so now! If you can find a pool room in the Atlanta area that will host a UPA event again.....then I will retract my statement about CW. As for KT, well this IPT incident and his past should speak pretty clearly for themselves.

Please take a look at the edited version of my post; I think you were answering while I was editing it.

In particular to the part dealing with the ethnic slur aspect.

Your comments?
