Besides pool, shooting pistols and rifles is a part of my life and has been for many years. I have trouble seeing well at long distance and and night, but still pass the driving eye sight exam with out glasses. I also don't see the edge of the ball as good as I used to on long shots. I have read more then once that world class hand gun shooters, base ball sluggers, pitchers, catchers and other stand outs in sports have "better then normal" eye sight. I tried shooting with my glasses on, but don't think I need them. But, when I get an eye exam later this year I will be talking to the eye doctor about the possibility of "pool glasses" or contacts. I am very curious as to how good the eye sight is for some of the world class pool players.

For what it's worth, I TRIED to shoot with my glasses on and I HATED it!
I was either looking over the top of them when I was in my shooting stance or the rim of the glasses was right in my line of sight. It bothered my so much that I preferred to shoot a bit "blind", rather than trying to adapt to the style that using the glasses required.
I had never worn glasses in my life (better than 20/20 vision) until I reached my mid 40s and then it gradually worsened from needing them only for reading to needing them for things requiring more clarity at further distances (watching TV, driving, etc.).
I went to the eye doctor and had him fit me for contacts and with a bit of experimentation we came up with what I am currently using and it works.
Rather than have both eyes fitted for distance vision (which is the usual way), we made my right eye contact a bit "stronger" than my left eye contact. That gives me better "close up" vision when it is needed and allows my left eye to have "distance" vision. I also had my left contact set to be "focused" at a bit greater than table length. It makes my real distance vision (beyond 20 feet or so, a bit blurrier, but it works at the table.

I'm a tourney director in KC, one of the older guys that plays has a set of pool glasses made for billiards games. They set up higher on your face so your still looking thru the lens properly while shooting. They look like their on upside down when you see someone wearing them but they work. Remind me of the big lens glasses that were popular for ladies in the eighties but I would do a goggle search might be just what you need. Good shooting!
