Hey im going down to miami for a couple days for HotImportNights i was just wondering where the real pool halls are around that area. If someone could give me the names of pool halls that have 9ft's with cloth, not felt, it would be appreciated :D

No pool rooms in carol city/miami gardens that you would want to go to. What days specifically will you be here? Thurs nights go to Sharpshooters on 117th and 72nd. Tuesdays go to Hollywood Billiards. Handicapped 9ball tournaments on those nights and the best chance to see action /match up yourself.

how far will i have to drive to get to a decent pool hall. I dont care if its in a bad neighborhood and i get car jacked. As long as they dont take my cue!

The last time I was in Miami, Sharpshooter's and Peg's Pockets were good rooms with good action, but Sharpshooter's definitely got the nod. This was about five years ago, so my information would be dated, but I suspect that you will still find good pool at Sharpshooter's.

Only been there once, about a month ago, but for a busy, action filled room, I would go with Hollywood Billiards - right off 441 and ? in Hollywood.
Check direction on the internet.

Not a "bad" neighborhood, and probably no more than 1/2 hour from you.

Sharpshooters: The room I play out of mainly. Friendly regulars, usually the place you will find the best players in Miami. Some afternoon action. Best days to go: Monday nights and Thurs nights. Do not go on Free beer nights, the place is wall to wall bangers. Gold Crowns/Simonis. Best high dollar action is usually 1p but cheap sets of 9ball and straight pool can be had here pretty easily.

Pegs Pocket: No action except for the house man Joe and the stars have to align to get down if the game is tough. Joe will play and has some backing in the room with a few of the regulars. Other than Joe, forget it this place has no players. Hodge podge of tables but all have simonis I think.

Bird Bowl: Difficult environment to match up in. Spanish is the main language in this room. Lots of Chicago action but difficult to get the cheese. Not really recommended. Two GCs and the rest are gandys. Simonis.

Inside Billiards: Small room in Southwest Dade. Use to have a tournament on Mondays, not sure if it still goes down. Spanish crowd and pretty nitty. Tough to get down in there, esp if your an unknown and look to play above banger speed. Not recommended

Hollywood Billiards: In Broward county, about 15 miles north of Carol City I would guess. The best players in Dade/Broward hang out here. Lots of 3 and 4 figure sets go down here and you can find action at all speeds. You have to be a bit careful here though. At least one story I have heard from multiple people had a road player get jacked in the parking lot. Airballs and tough matching up goes on here. Really recommend you go on Tues. Last tuesday I was there, there were 5 or 6 players at or near Tony Ruberto's speed and at least that many about 1-2 balls under that. The owners are great and the locals for the most part are good people. If you get down, unless you have some insight into who you are playing, make em post! 6x12 Golf game is always going during the day and most of the night.

Doral Billiards: New room, great equipment (all new Brunswick metros). 4 or 5 heated billiards tables. Great place to play 3 cushion. No real action that I have seen. Banger hangout. Not recommended.

New Wave: Not recommended. Last time I was there it was wall to wall 18 year old wanna be gangsters. I believe they have a tues night tournament. 8Ball I think and its handicapped and they bar guys that really run out.

South beach has a place called the Lost Weekend. Bar table tournament that starts around midnite on tuesdays. Usually a pretty soft field. Not alot of $$. Good place to go get some drinks, watch the South Beach Gazelles run and maybe snap off a small 8ball tourny.

Sunset Billiards: Owners dont really love the game at all. Great equipment (GC 4s) but no players. Not recommended, esp since Sharpshooters is right down the road.

Beach Billiards (North Miami Beach) Forget about it. Waste of time.

Surprised you just didnt PM me :-)

If your only going to be here during Sat/Sun then I recommend Hollywood. Sun night at Sharpshooters has some players sometimes but really your best bet is Hollywood.
