One of the better rivalries I can ever remember seeing up close was right here in New York City in the mid to late 1990's. Already established four-time Tri-State player of the year Tony Robles had to deal with quickly emerging superstar George "Ginky" SanSouci. They met in a lot of tournament finals, and Robles had the upper hand in their early meetings, but, in the end, Ginky came to dominate this exciting rivalry.
Today we know Ginky as a BCA Open champion and Derby City Champion. We know Robles as a BCA Open champion and member of a winning Mosconi cup team.
Once upon a time, however, their local rivalry was really something special to watch, and this great rivalry is one that New York City pool fans won't forget anytime soon.
