Grady Mathews Stroke Style?

Yep. Allen was definitely the king. It worked well to a point. Allen always had to play close position, even in 9 ball and he had to accept sharper angles because of that. It worked fine for straight pool but he had his problems in 9 ball, don't you think?
You're gonna have problems in 9-ball when you can't draw the ball... ;)

But of course..:)Do you think I'm wrong?
I thought you were trying to say that Hopkins can't execute a draw shot. Of course he can. Short stroke players aren't a fan of 9 ball because it challenges them to let their strokes out, which they don't like to do. But letting your stroke out isn't always about draw shots.

Well..yeah, of course he can draw the ball within limits, but can he execute a table length one..?I seriously doubt that...

I wouldn't even call Hopkins a short stroke player, more of a flick wrist player.A typical short stroke player to me would be Tommy Kennedy, who will however draw back further if power is needed, something I feel Hopkins was not capable of.

Varner even mentions in a recent Accu stats upload that Allen had problems with power shots...

Hopkins is a world beater. He can draw 2 table lengths in his sleep. Come on…
Actually he can't. Watched him play a lot, some live some vid, and he rarely hit the big draw shot. That punch stroke is great for control but long power shots not so much. But for anyone to say he didn't play 9b well is delusional.
