Small market for it but big pockets in that market
if i were trying to sell i would have taken the 3500

who knows how long itll take for a significant offer to come along and the overall interest for a side characters cue from a now old obscure movie

There are folks on the Schon FB page that could give you a accurate $ tag. I doubt its worth anything close to 10G's. $5000 sounds like where its at.

now i'm confused. Is the cue you've shown here a personal use cue or the movie cue? The same? Did he get a special one from Schon for the movie or what?

I realize that I'm using my own feelings about this, but I'm not even in the market for a cue; much less a collector's cue. But assuming it has solid provenance, I'd lie, cheat, and steal to come up with $3,500 to buy that cue. Not literally. But my point is that that cue is a very big part of pool history. One of the most iconic lines in the pool world was said by the actor while playing with that cue.

If I'm not even in the bottom 1% of deep pockets in the cue collecting world, imagine what someone with actual deep pockets would pay. I do think $10k is more in line with what it could bring. Maybe/probably more.

BTW, there were McDermotts used in filming too. Rumor has it that Joss had an 'in' because of Sigel. Most scenes show Joss cues but there are some with McD's in them. IIRC they donated around 80 cues.

That cue is a McDermott D-17. Forrest W.'s part used a C-series cue. From what i dug up they donated about 80 cues hoping to get some publ. out of it. Also been told that only Cruise/Newman had Joss made cues. I asked about the Schon over on the Schon FB page. Haven't got reply yet.

Just was told this cue was never in the movie. The source of the info i have no doubt of. Keith/Grady used a D-17 McD. in the film as i stated above. The Schon has come up for sale before, last time the asking price was around 5G's. Do not know if it sold at that price. Info. supplied from someone VERY well versed in Schon cue lore.

That is certainly a pretty Schon, but GS definitely used a McDermott (as well as Forrest Whittaker) in TCOM. There are several KEITH matches on youtube where he uses a plainer Ebony pointed Schon (and plays jam up, I might add).
