i would say tournament longevity and prize money is the determining factor in such a discussion. the US open is a constant, the world 9b too. i hope the world 8b, 10b sticks around this time.

maybe include china open but probably not the longer running japan international because iirc prize money is modest

IMO pool is too fractured at the moment to list just 4-5events under the umbrella "Grand Slam". SWAG for me might be DerbyCity One-Pocket, World Pool(9b) Championship, US Open 9ball and a true 'World championship' 14.1 title if someone could put that event together.
 
For me it’s the US Open 9 ball, World 9 ball and World Pool Masters. Everything else is too new. I do like the DCC MoT but I find it’s too North America focused since nowhere else plays Banks or One Pocket as consistently. Maybe the World 10 ball could be slotted in if it sticks around for 5 more years and beyond. But I wouldn’t want to shoehorn anything in for the sake of naming four tournaments.
 
Royal GS would be one each of the following:
World Snooker
World 8 ball
World 10 ball/9ball - Does it matter?
World 3 Cushion Billiards

Wait. Can't limit it to just 4.
Emperor's Cup maybe with one pocket and straight pool included. Gotta have that Hey You Ball too.

I like your first list, except I would substitute the U.S. Open 9-Ball for the World Eight Ball. The World Pool Masters could be added as well for four Majors. MR has expanded the field and brought in more top players.
