Granite for Slate?

I looked at a billiard (carom) table that I wanted to buy and noticed the slate is actually granite. Is this good, bad or neither?

The balls don't know any difference, I've seen them made from marble as well, don't roll or sound any different than slate.

I level and recover 4 x 8 carom tables in a lot of Asian poolrooms in Atlanta all year, and have no problems. They play every bit as good, actually if the price is right it's a great buy.
