Does anyone have experience with the Granito grade cloth made by Gorina? Was wondering if it might be a good choice for my Anniversary table,I think the rail rubber may have hardened a bit. Thanks.

Granito Cloth

skydawg,

I have played extensively on Granito Basalt. It is an excellent cloth, and in my opinion plays just like Simonis 760. The drawback to Granito is its lack of availability. It is difficult, and sometimes impossible, to get.

Conversely, Simonis is always available. Furthermore, Iwan Simonis (company) has been very good to me. For those reasons, I only sell and install Simonis.

However, your question is about Granito. So, in that regard, I want to state that in my experience, it is among the very best of billiard cloth.

Thanks,I see it in Mueller`s catalog,so I`m guessing they have it available.

I've never bought anything else but Granito M for 3C. I think its a touch faster. Maybe 18" on a 10 rail stroke. Impossible to prove although.

Granito makes excellent cloth. I used Basalt in the pool room for many years before 860hr was available because I found it to play great and be more durable than regular 860. I always figured the reason Simonis made 860hr was to compete with the durability of Basalt and Tour Edition from Championship. The Tournament 2000 is a bit thinner and plays a bit faster than Basalt. Meuller is the exclusive distributor now, and has always had it available when I have called.

The first best thing that should be done to improve the table is to have those cushions replaced. If there getting hard you will not like the play and is a waste of your money to install new cloth without having the rails updated to the cushions that are available today. The cushions on the anniversary have been discounted and are no longer available so the rails will have to modified to accept k-55 chushions. Mark Greagory is the guy to contact for a top notch rebuild. Then you can worry about cloth once you get the table up to par.
Enjoy'

Muellers offers
Basalt BA64 ,
Granito Tournament 2000 GT76 76" Cloth
Granito Tournament 2000 GT64 64" Cloth

Would this be like a 760 - 860 and 860HR from Simonis?

Thank you

Richard

Pretty much, yeah. The Basalt would be similar to the 860hr, and the Tournament 2000 (in either 76" or 64" width) would be more like the 760 in that it's a bit faster. GT76 and GT64 are the same cloth-the 76" is available mainly for bigger tables. We had it on a 6x12 Riley snooker table. FWIW, (I haven't tried them all yet) I would rank the cloth companies as such:
Simonis (the best for 3oo+ years)
Gorina (very close and cheaper)
Miliken (nice cloth, about the same price as Gorina)
Championship Tour Edition (VERY durable, not crazy about how it plays)
Everybody else (the chinese knockoffs just aren't the same in a number of ways)

Again, just my opinion as a player and room owner.

Thank you Sir.

I was going the Simonis route for cloth .

I am going to try the Basalt now.

I have Granito tournament cloth on my 110 year old Brunswick and love it. 90/10 blend ands very smooth with absolutely no pilling after several years of use. I will use it again and as was said earlier it is very fast.
