Graphite

I have a Cuetec I occasionally use as a beak cue. Like other posters stated it starts out very slick and quickly wears down due to the finish. They also have a very hard hit. The best use I can think of for them would be a break cue or a cue to keep in your trunk as I think they are fairly warp resistant.

Oh they will warp if subjected to the right conditions. I know this because a friend of mines warped. He lived in Florida and left it in his car. He then was using it in league and broke after missing a shot.....Best thing he ever did!

Well I'm guilty of it , I've used a glove not becuase I bought it , it came free from Pool Dawg when I order my Scorpion Cues , I got a Scorpion Break and playing Cue and I absoutly HATE THEM , I got smart and Bought a McDormott playing cue and a Predator Break cue and love them so much more .

And now it seems that if people ask me what I'm goin to do with them I say sell them , well anytime People have asked what type of Cues they are the just walk away so I'm not Impressed with any type of Graphite or Fiberglass cues .

The glove I tried and it was ok but I'll never use one again just give me some powder and I'll be good .

I was at a bar one night and a guy I knew had two of his own cues up there, he had a scorpion and I never had a chance to fiddle around with one so I asked for his permission to pick it up and shoot a few shots with it. He agreed, as I picked it up, felt the way the weight was, felt a bit funny. After that, I felt the shaft, it felt like plastic, and I mean model car plastic, like if I shoot too hard with it, it will splinter down the middle with the ferrule flying in my eye, so I put it down, said thanks and picked up a bar cue lol. My experience, don't know if it is graphite though, but that whole fiberglass coat dealy with the cuetecs and scorpion, as I have stayed as MHO, suck big gigantic T-rex testicles.

Happy shooting! :)

Yea. I have a scorpion right now and it didn't take too long to get sick of the fiberglass. I'm on a budget so I'm looking to at least replace the shaft with wood. Hahaha. I'd actually rather go back to my cheap rage cue I got as my first cue when i was younger. It's full sized and a cheap-o. But it's still damn straight and with a wood shaft... if only I could find it... hahaha.

That or blow my whole next check on a McDermott... tempting...

Right now, my main shooter is a Schmelke, and for the price of around $100, a schmelke to me, is better than a viking or a mcdermott in the same price range. Just MHO. I know J&J make some decent affordable cues, so does Adams. But for the price range, I couldn't ask for more with my schmelke. You can also buy a replacement low deflection shaft for your scorpion from one of AZB board members. I don't know which route would suit you best, but I'd definately agree with picking up a rage before a scorpion. I just like the solid feel of the maple a lot better than the fiberglass stuff, it feels too synthetic. MHO

Good luck.

I have a graphite cue that I break with, but used to play with, and a few wood cues that I use as players. The graphite cue has a stiffer feel, but I can make the CB do the same thing with it as I can do with my maple shafted cues. The feel is a little different, but if you used it enough, that would change. Some people complain that the shaft becomes gummy after a while, making it hard to slide smoothly. All in all, I think it does the same thing as any other cue, with a slightly different feel. Which one you like better is obviously personal. However, like anything else, youwould have to actually give it a chance first, and use it for a while.
