The George Fels book will be in perfect condition for sure. Dean likes to
practice straight pool, and told me he had that book. I told him It is
a great book if you haven't played a lot of straight pool all your life.
It' not just a connect the dots type of book. It tells you things like don't
depend on your secondary break shot to leave you a shot, try to always
have a ball as a safety valve in case the break doesn't provide a shot.
Shoot balls on the rails as soon as you can as they can cause problems,
how to play offensive safety's off of a full rack and on and on. Now I know
that a these things are common knowledge to people that have played a
lot of straight pool but Dean and I grew up in Dallas in the 60's and 70's
and no one played it. I was lucky enough to play hours and hours of straight
pool with two great straight pool players, my good friends Dick Lane and
Bob Vanover. I noticed that they did the things in the book, especially Dick
who Irvin Crane said once at the U. S. Open which Dick finished 2nd,
other than myself , Lane is only one here that really knows how to play this
game. If you are a intermediate are so player that has not played a lot of
straight pool, but wants too, this book will vastly increase your runs and
all parts of your game. The reason I know the book is new is, well never
mind. Get it you won't be disappointed.
