Great Efren Reyes Article

Does anyone know when the player's meeting is for the women's bca event in Vegas this weekend? The WPBA event i know it starts Sunday but i don't know what time the players meeting is, and its to late to call!

Thanks for the link Mike!....I think a very big question was answered with a very short sentence in that article. Efren said " Gambling is my practice"

I think I play best, and I'm never nervous when I'm practicing.....now I can relate to what Efren is thinking about when gambling. It's also his way to escape the rest of the world......Very cool article!

Quote from Efren in that article...

"From 1973 to 1979, that was my best game," he says. "Nobody can beat me. From then I'm half of what I was. By 1979, I didn't have any opponents, because nobody wants to play me. So I stopped for six years. That's when I play carom. I didn't come back until 1985 in the United States."

Man...only a handful of people today has ever seen Efren in his prime years. Just try to imagine how the "young" Efren would have torn up the international pool world of today. Sigh.

i personally love him for his humbleness on top of his pool skills..he has not changed his character ever despite coming from a poor backgrd n getting so rich n famous!

Efren's popularity

He tells how in the Dumaguete exhibition, he was followed to the bathroom by people asking for autographs and wanting him to pose for a picture.

I was there on this one, Efren was playing all night then suddenly nature's call :) so he goes up leading to the hallway on to the bathroom, while he was just on the hallway you could see a large crowd suddenly stand on their feet rushing towards Efren...hehehe...:D But affable as Efren is he gives in to the request of the crowd for pictures and autograph. I have by the way a signed ball by Efren, Luat and Valle.

The event have a sizable crowd around 500 to 700 people, the local pros
also where playing one local even beat Gandy Valle.

I have some pictures on this even here on this URL.
