Great excercises for developing a good stroke?

Got a friend that seems to have a nack for the game, still a beginner but getting good at ball pocketing. While the sense of aiming is there the stroke is not. Can you recommend some good excercises for developing a good stroke? Thanks!

Straight shots are the best using centerball to determine your stroke.
Try these: http://endeavor.med.nyu.edu/~wei/pool/pooltable2.html

START(
%Dd5Y6%HK8I0%Id5Z9%Pd5X3%WA8I1%Xu8I0%YC8C9%Zd0W8%[L0]7%\K8A4)END

You can hit this shot at various speeds. I like hitting this one hard about 10 times. If you miss take note to which side and figure out why you are missing. (Are you hitting the cueball dead center?)

Here is another to use with one ball:
START(
%Dg6O6%Pn0O5%WB4O6%Xu7O5
)END

Hit the 4 ball with a stop shot and have the 4 ball return to hit the cueball square.

For smoothness I try touch shots with just the cue ball. Trying to control the speed of the cueball alone requires a smooth stroke. But your must remember not to be jerky in the backswing, and to freeze everything at the end of the stoke.

http://endeavor.med.nyu.edu/~wei/pool/pooltable2.html

START(
%CC7U1%Hj8D0%IE1U1%Ph9W2%Wh6D6%Xh7V3%YD4W3%Zg9W2
)END

I shoot the short table (red line) to try and touch rail and leave the cueball within a balls length of the rail (8ball.)

Then I shoot the long table (green line) to try and touch the end rail and leave the cueball within two ball lengths of the rail (3 and 9 ball.)
