That's correct -- this shot is covered in depth (and many variations, no less) in Freddy the Beard's "Banks that Don't Go, But Do!" DVD. On many tables, the "point" of the corner pocket is not even a point at all; it's a much gentler-angled/rounded surface. This is due to the cloth, when installed, having been pulled taught around that rubber cushion's point, thereby "softening" the point and making it less a "point" but more of a rounded surface. You'd be surprised at how often you can play shots off the point, or very near the point itself (e.g. off the "rounded" surface immediately in front of the pocket point):
