Great White Chalk is the nuts!!

Sorry for not being in here during the holidays but it's been nuts...

We let at least 1 batch out in the production run that has problems... We will be including batch numbers in the labels going forward and I have instituted a batch log which should help ID problems... I have also added 2 steps in the QC process along with upgrading some equipment...

We will get the issue handled where the chalk was crumbling and leaving large particles and I will make up any of the pieces that are problematic....

It's quite maddedning but the machining issues we ran into were the primary focus we were fighting thru...We should have had better QCs in place but that is my fault and is being remedied.....

Oh this is seriously a funny thread lol

OK... Shoot..... what the funny part?

There were several hundred pieces shipped and so far there have been way more positive emails, messages, and requests for reorders than problems... I think most of the people who have bought any of our products know we wouldn't find anything funny here and will get it straightened out ASAP... I don't intend to have products that I won't use myself..

I ordered a 3 pack of chalk and have now had a chance to use a cube for 2 sessions;
a. the 1 st cube has been out of the sealed bag for a week and when using the 1st time I did notice particles flying off when chalking the cue but that has since stopped. I do not know why that would be the case.
b. it goes on the tip very similar to kamui chalk, coats the tip smoothly without any "grit" feel. I find that one chalking lasts almost one rack.
c. while it has a strong magnet, I have not used this feature as with the holder that I have, there would just be too much bulk in my pocket so I leave it on the table. maybe after the holidays I will make another holder so I can keep it in my pocket. not having to chalk every shot makes this unimportant.
d. priced as it is and not having to chalk every shot makes this a very cost effective chalk.
e. it does leave little white streaks on the table but after 4 hours of shooting, not too bad. easily wiped off with just a handkerchief.
bottom line, I have used NIR and blue diamond exclusively for 2 years, but, if the other 2 cubes prove to be as good as the 1st one, then I am sold and will permanently change over to chris' chalk. job well done sir!

I absolutely love innovation and people who go all out to make something work. You sir are one of those people. Bravo to you.

As anyone who has ever had experience in the real world, there are things such as beta testing in the software world, or soft openings in the restaurant, theme park, retail world. All of which have bugs, kinks, and last minute changes to make it right.

This is the natural progression of success.

Thomas Edison's teachers said he was "too stupid to learn anything." He was fired from his first two jobs for being "non-productive." As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps."

Henry Ford failed and went broke five times before he succeeded.

When Bell telephone was struggling to get started, its owners offered all their rights to Western Union for $100,000. The offer was disdainfully rejected with the pronouncement, "What use could this company make of an electrical toy."

R. H. Macy failed seven times before his store in New York City caught on.

Federico Fellini's first films, "Luci del varieta" and "El sceicco bianco" were dismal financial and critical failures. In 1952, one film critic wrote, "We shall never hear from Fellini again." Two years later, Fellini directed "La Strada," which went on to garner the Academy Award and New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Foreign Film, as well as the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. What is it they say about critics ... something about knowing the worth of everything and the value of nothing?

I appreciate the moral support... I also appreciate the guys that are giving us feedback on the bad pieces that made it out.... I owe several of you replacements... If you didn't want to post on this thread because you thought it would be bad for Outsville or me please post... I need to know how wide the problem was...

So far we have heard from less than 10 people that had problems... We have had about 4 times that many people asking to reorder and wondering when we will have the chalk back in stock....

The thing is that with me even if it was 100 to 1 or 1000 to 1 I am still going to worry about the 1... The pictures I have seen of 3 of the cubes look a little porous compared to normal... I dug thru the rejects and found 3 cubes that look porous tonight.. These were cubes that blew out while machining the hold for the magnet... I blamed a dull bit but it may have been that batch and with a new bit that was sharp the rest of the batch got to go out.....

Going forward....

We will offer a no magnet option... This will make those pieces cheaper and more in line with the existing premium chalk for the players that won't be using our clips......

We are also going to work on a blue... LIGHT LIGHT blue... There are benefits to knowing when your table has gotten dirty... Chalk that blends with the cloth is only good for rooms and players that don't like to have to keep their equipment clean... I want a clean table and I don't think I should have to look at my palm after 15 minutes to know I didn't get what I want...

Bear with us as we deal... Well I deal with audit season... As much as all of you have helped I still have to hold down a real job... For now =D

You are doing a fantastic job. This was the first release and problems can happen. That you strive for perfection has come out several times on this board. It is nice of you take the feedback and suggestions on improving .. can't help but quote .. to know what lies ahead, ask those who are coming back!

Shipping

I know where to find them lol I just asked how much for the shipping I didn't see it anywhere

Shipping is 3.55 across the board right now... It's high for some things and low for others and we take a beating on out of country orders as they are at 6.55.... We are just working on doing the USPS shipping and postage online and as we get better at it it will be adjusted based on your orders size, weight and destination...

Perfect

That is fine by me I will be ordering the sample pack within the next day or so, all I hear is good things so I must try them out. I was asking so I know what to expect with the shipping cost

I had to post this one. Few months ago I gave a Ki-tech soft tip to a friend. His normal tip is a kamui super soft. I saw him in a hall a couple of days ago and asked him why he was not using the Ki-Tech. His reply was great. He said “it does not harden up like the kamui, it stays too soft for me” The tips play the same from start to replacement, guess he has adjusted to the tips getting harder over time. So basically a non-KT user saying what Chris has said from the start.

Thats pretty funny... You will be getting a few M/S in with your order... That should be right up his alley if he likes the SS after it hardens up some.. It has a higher COR than our soft but not as high as the medium.....

He said it infront of his tip installer. Really best part, it was a totally honest reply. Looking forward to the order.

Chris,
Are you still taking chalks back that seem to be faulty? I have one that flakes the other is fine.

Sorry Kenny am more on FB these days than AZ..... When the next run is ready yes I will make up the flaky one... Will likely be just in time for DCC.. Seems we had 2 batches that were not in spec... One of the batches was way too dry and made a mess flaking off and the other batch had an error in the mixture... Ended up being more like Kamui than we wanted and was very creamy and went on the cue toooo thick...... Will post on here to let eveyone know when we are up and running again....

Chris, i was lucky that the first cube I used only flaked at the 1st level on top then went on the tip rather well/ a few people have tried it and very interested in purchasing when you do the light blue color.....still planning on doing that soon?

Speaking of Kamui chalk, I got some recently and had been testing it out. The first 3-4 days were promising, I started thinking damn, this stuff really works. Then we got days and days of rain and 100% humidity (deep south) and all of a sudden I'm miscuing and it feels like I've greased my tip...the cue ball slides off it left and right. I put that stuff up and ended the experiment.

Does your chalk need tested in different regions of the U.S.? Just curious, I'm learnin' about this chalk stuff lately, never used to care before. Never thought about weather and chalk before the other day.

ive got a couple extra pieces of great white. if anyone is interested just pm me ill hook ya up with a good price
