Greatest one pocket player? Straight pool? Etc.

I'm enjoying the greatest 9 ball player thread. What about all the other games? Greatest one pocket? Straight pool? 8 ball? Banks? Golf? Snooker? Rotation?

By discipline here are my top two in order

9-ball Luther Lassiter, Mike Sigel
8-ball Efren Reyes, Darren Appleton
14.1 Ralph Greenleaf, Willie Mosconi
Banks Eddie Taylor, John Brumback
1-Hole Efren Reyes, Rags Fitzpatrick
Golf Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods
Snooker Steve Davis, Steven Hendry
Rotation Efren Reyes and ????
3-cushion Thorbjorn Blohmdahl, Ray Ceulemans

Never saw him play.

Sid Cole.
Who? He taught Crane and Cranfield and Dead eye Dick what was required.
Dick busted all of them in his day. Beat Ronnie 23 straight games of snooker! Busted Rempe, Buddy, Mezz and just about every one else that made up names only to bust out.
Dick told me he wasn't sure he could take Sid. I beat Champeens was his battle cry. Only NewYorker to say that. Mezz later stole the line. Dick said it to him before he busted him.
He was a monster.
Nick :)

DOH! I was reading through and must have just missed that last post, or it was a coincidence!

Balkline - Jake Schaefer Jr. Even better than his father, Jake Schaefer Sr.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned this yet.

For today's games, agree with sjm.

All the best,
WW

Not a three cushion guru, but I thought Fred Caudron was considered the very best at balkline.

Pretty much like comparing Greenleaf/Mosconi vs Sigel and Mizerak in 14.1. But, here is a fairly good summary of the 1900s, with respect to Balkline. The Shaefers' fared pretty well, as did Hoppe, of course.

All the best,
WW
