Hey there

Heading to Greenvile for a week for work probably next month. Was just trying to find out if there are any tournaments or places to play etc etc in the area.

Not sure when I am heading out there yet but trying to base it around some playing time out there

any suggestions would be great

Thanks

Well, there is at least one place to play still...though it's not the greatest place. The Palace is there. A few 9' tables.

I'm at the palace a few times a week. They have BCA 8 ball tourny on Wednesday night at 8. $10 Entry normally no more than like 12 people so the pay sucks ~$65. Monday nights at a place called "The Village" off hwy 29 has $10 entry 8ball tourny on bar box. pay out is like $120. Tuesday and thursday are league nights. Palace on Friday/Saturday if you play one pocket or 9 ball you can get action for around $50 and up/set. pm me if you want more info.

Yep. No players. Only Shannon Daulton, Larry Nevel, Mike Gulyassy, Sammy Jones, Brian White, and others.

There are tournaments most every night (or were a couple of months ago). Ask about Pal's on Friday and Saturday. Their Break and run pot was over $400 a ball a few weeks ago (9 ball break on the bar table). The Palace 8 ball tournament. Bailey's on Laurens Rd had a weekly tournament recently but I don't know if they still do.

Just go to the Palace and ask Mike Sijon. He will clue you in. Tell him Mike Templeton said hello.

What happened to Jimmy Hodges place (Good Times was the name I think) in Greenville? I thought that was a real nice place, but it's been a while since I was there.

Also Break Room in Spartanburg. You can find games, they may not be big name players but you can find games for a couple hundred easily at the palace.

I knew you were foolin Poked, I just figured I'd clue the gentleman in on the goings on......

Hodges place (Gametime) closed down about a month ago. My daughter called me earlier today and said that it has been bought by the owners of Nepals (a huge strip club in Greenville). They are opening a new club based on something like Coyote Ugly, but not that name.

It will probably be much more successful than a pool room now.

Yeah I got me a big one Ktown! :D I knew it would get someone riled up. As far as strong players within a certain area, Greenville is definitely one of the strongest in the country, if not the strongest, and there are plenty of people on this board who will make a point of that anytime they can.

I pm'd Dave in Boston and let him know I was kidding directly after I posted that and let him know that it would probably generate some interest in his thread.

Did he have a room in Chas. back in the 80's?
I don't think he was ever in the Charleston area. I was playing during the 80's and Jimmy wasn't in Charleston then or any other time that I know of.
