Getting in "dead Stroke" has been 'touch and go' with me for last few months - Until yesterday.
I've always been a "dead on" with bankShots. I can hone in and drill it - longBank, cross-corner or cross side. Don't matter.
So - I was strokin' some banks in and thought to myself "what is it about these bank shot strokes that I do so well"?
The answer - I 'felt it'! Not that I felt the shot prior to shooting it - but felt it WHILE I was shooting it. I feel in my RIGHT HAND -
Right in the hand between the middle finger and ring finger - a "Focus point" in the right hand. I noticed that when banking I would grip with the weight 'centered' at that point such that I could feel the "bite" of the cue.
So I concentrated on this while playing some 9 balll racks. Crap! Runnin' fool
Carl and I played out some bitchin' $40 sets last night. After 5 hours of drilling I lost the final set at the 7ball - 8 to 9 with a tiny double-kiss on a cross side of the 7 .
There were at least 10 runOuts and with the exeption of "hides" - I don't think any rack went more than 1 shot per player. RunOut mania.
So - I have "Grip and Rip" tattooed on my pool room wall now. To get the "sting" of that cue into your hand and truley "feel" the shot. What a great feeling to deadStroke so many hours
