I have the G0555 band saw and A steel city 1hp dust collector hooked up straight to it with the 4" hose and no matter what I cut I seem to get a lot of dust on the table floor stand and back of the throat

Just wondering for those of you who own one or similar to it have had the same issue and what you have done to solve it that steel city pulls a lot of air its the bigger floor model http://www.steelcitytoolworks.com/products_tools.cfm?section=2&category=5&tool=65110 I have the disc. model with the 110/220v motor

Thanks in advance for your suggestions,
Bill

I have the same saw and the same problem. No cure that I can think of.

This is only the second band saw I have had I had a 10" wilton with rear port before this hooked up to a shop vac and had no where near the excess dust so is this a design flaw with Grizzly or is this common with most bigger saws?

On my 12" craftsman, I have a 2-1/2" port just below the table that pulls off the blade guide area and then the 4" port at the bottom of the lower pully. I still get a lot of dust above the table. Some day, I plan to have a hose above the table to catch the rest of the crap also.....
just dreams, as I know I'll never get too it....lol:D

The dust collector on the saw is not great

You need at least one below the table, or better yet two. One should be immediately below the table and another could be installed in the lower blade guard, near its bottom. SPlit the dust collector hoses between these two points. Maybe best to cap off the top port, kinda not needed! Be sure to install and add a brush inside the lower housing to continually brush the rubber wheel band and keep it clean. You can find these brushes on any woodworkers site. They are made for this size bandsaws. I know what your problem is because my neighbor bought one from Grizzly just recently, on my suggestion, and I thought that the dust collector idea was a bit under engineered. Otherwise the saw is fabulous for the money.

Hah!!! Another like me. I'm the greatest procrastinator that I'm aware of. I've got so many projects started or wanting to get started and I know they will never happen. I'd have to live to be a 100 to see fruition of most all of the ideas running around inside of my scalp.

I have a 16 inch Grizzly, but have had other brands also. None of them catch all the dust. The outlet for your hose at the bottom gets rid of about 80 to 90% with a strong air flow hooked up. But to save your lungs also use a respirator while sawing.
