Guess how Efren escaped....

I watched a one pocket match between Efren and Cliff tonight. You can imagine how stimulating that is:)
Well here was the first break.Cliff broke and it's Efrens shot.Guess how he handled it........P.S.---If you've seen the match and know the shot, refrain from self glory please:)

I have not seen this...

Does the 5 has a chance to go off the 13? If yes, I'd stun the 12 hard, 2 rail it into the 9. Might even make two balls with this. Also, freeze the CB to the short rail...

I looked at it for a while,... didn't see anything else..

I'm going with the 12 two rails into the 9 making the 5 in his corner....and of course he in a perfect spot to now make the 15.

EDIT: I guess others already beat me to that suggestion...

I'll say he two-railed the 12 off of the point of his opponent's pocket, then back into the 15, which went into the corner. I have seen him use the point many times to make balls go toward his pocket. He can control the cue as well so his opponent doesn't have a shot.

Mike

I say, he played the SWEEP and shot the 12b 2 rails into the 9,1,3,5 off the 11 combo (making the 5b) and drew the CB back to freeze on the 15 so ther was NO SHOT.

Or he 1 railed the 12 into the 15 whlie playing the CB off the rail and into the 9,1,3, 5 off the 11 combo (making the 5b).

Mj

yeah.. that sounds good.... 1 railed the 12 off the stack and tucked the ball under the two balls on the rail.

Sorry it took me so long to respond guys.I haven't been online and got tired last night.Anyway, here is what he did.He hit it with a finesse draw stroke and cozied whitey right up in the stack,as diagrammed. In case your interested,Cliff went up in this game,7 to -2(Efren owing 2).Efren proceeded to win the game 8-6 from there!

I honestly didn't even consider that. Wow.
Exactly what I thought.I was stunned when he hit it.He see's things that most people don't see(hence the Magician nickname)...he made some other moves in the match that were equally profound.

The situation was roughly the same.Sorry for the lack of "exacts".I understand what you mean though:)

In almost the same situation, I saw Efren carom off the 12 and into the 14 banking it into his pocket. Of course he ran 8 and out -- in a 1 hole partners game at a Bicycle Club tournament. The best run out I have ever seen.

I thought that Efren is going to put a ball on his pocket. If you observe all of those who responded always have a ball on Efren's pocket. Nevertheless putting 4 balls away from the opponent's pocket and locking him on a cluster of balls in one shot is obviously not on everybody's mind. In other words phenomenal! to say the least.

But i have another question. How long did it take for Efren to have that kind of shot after Cliff's?

And what was Cliff's respond?

And by the way thanks for the post. ;)

I believe that this is from the Legends of One Pocket 4. I have seem this shot at least 10 times and still guessed wrong! ;)

I don't think I fully understand your question. This shot was Efren's first shot of the match.Cliff broke and left Efren this. Then Efren responded with the shot I diagrammed.Cliff got back to the table and ......? I forgot now.It has been like 4 days since I seen the match and don't have it anymore. My memory is fading....:(

Ok, let me rephrase it. How many seconds or minutes did Efren take the shot after Cliff's break? I mean did he think hard and long before taking the shot or just a few seconds look at the table then he took the shot?

Senior moment.....funny.
Ok,to answer your question,Efren took about 20 seconds to figure out what he wanted to do and pull the trigger.
