When it comes to maple and ebony 4 point cues, Gus was a designing genius. This cue represents the apex of those designs. This cue features a rare bicentennial colored blank, black, blue, red, and natural veneers. Each prong has 7 MOP inlays. A MOP rectangle with 3 dots in a size descending arrangement top and bottom. The ebony/maple Bushka stitch ring above the original wrap. The joint has the wider stitch ring, in blue, with maple trim top and bottom. The butt sleeve has the extended stitch ring with a three veneer border set in blue/red/blue, offset from top and bottom of the sleeve. The mitered veneered, ebony windows each have 3 MOP inlays. This is a rare bird, which has an accompanying letter. The cue was purchased from John Oganowski (Loree Jon's dad) in his Green Brook pool room. This cue is 100% original. Cue was closeted for over 30 years.

Great find ....
Gus really built some neat cues

I’ve always loved his work and thought his cues to be proportionally excellent. With that in mind, I can not get along with the overly large joint rings. It has amazed me that someone who was so good at making sure his inlays were proportional to the rest of the cue could throw things off with the joint rings. Maybe they are like butterfly collars of the 70’s and you had to be there to truly “get it”.
I do love the point. I’m a sucker for square and rectangle inlays, partly when they incorporate circles or clovers.

The rectangular MOP inlay is exceedingly rare.
I have an original Gus with all similar inlays, spoke with Barry about the rectangular
inlay years ago.
Your cue with the special bicentennial veneers is a genuine stunner.
Thanks for sharing.
