Anyone know of a Gus Szamboti (authentic) for sale without having to takeout a second mortgage?

Thanks.

Find me a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible in Panther Pink all original for 5k and I will help you out....

Seriously, what are you looking for?

Joe

I could be wrong but I think the pickings will be real slim until you go well above 5K. Good luck with your search.

Well, it would be difficult for me to say how much without seeing what would be offered...like stepping on to a car dealership and the salesman asking what I am looking to spend. Something to that effect...but I am looking for something basic (not over the top or too ornate)...simple yet attractive.

There are a few floating around on various members sites with four points and maple windows for about $7500.

Not sure what your budget is, but bare-bones, plain jane these days will run you about $4500-$5000 and any work at all you are looking at $6000+. Very minimal work with ivory inlays....$9,000-$10,000. Happy hunting. Wish we could help, but we just our plain Gus a couple of months ago.

Sean,

I apprciate your input...as I have bought cues from you guys in the past at Valley Forge (Tad & Fellin case, South West, Joss West...etc). Will visit you guys again in 2006.

Take a look on Cue Gallery at the thread "My Everyday Gus Szamboti". This cue has been authenticated by Barry Szamboti. It has 2 12.8mm Paul Mottey shafts and NO original Gus shafts. Story is, the original shafts got broken over a pool table after a BIG loss by the original owner. Since I just got a new Hoppe style Gus Szamboti (also on cue gallery), I just might sell the other one at mmmmm .... $6000.

I just sold my other plain jane Gus for 5k. Another sorry should have been here yesterday, the waves were great kind of story.

My playing cue is a plain jane Gus that Mark K sold to me in 1999, but it hits so well I might be buried with it like King Pooltankamen.

The one that was on e-bay this morning?

not an ebat deal

a collecyor decided to sell some cues he bought over ten years ago and gave me first shot at what he had

the rambos were out of my price range

still has a josswest and a scruggs

There is a Gus sitting in a guys closet about 30 miles from me. No shafts and the cue has been there 20 years. He wont sell.
I offered him a fair price, but its a no go.

Just wanted to let all those who tried to assist me with obtaining a possible Gus Szamboti that I have found one and it is finally in my posession. Picked it up from Barry last month who verified it was one of his dad's...he cleaned the wrap and buffed the cue. This is one of Gus's "window cues' with points/veneers, Barry said it was in great original condition (with one ding in the butt sleeve) and advised not having it refinished. Not to mention it came in the original brown fellini case. I would post the pics however they are too large to post unless someone wants to help me out with posting them. Thanks to all...
