Good morning, all!

Since I was on a roll, I thought I'd post some pictures of my prized possession. (As far as cues go)

With the exception of the tips, which were put on by Barry, it's all original. It was originally constructed in 1979, refinished by Gus in 1988, and I was fortunate enough to pick it up from Barry in 2007.

Hope you enjoy!

Have a great night!

That is classic to its CORE! Really beautiful setup and great veneers!

i had one of those with the veneers above the butt cap
it is now Barry Szamboti's only cue that his father made

these are fairly unusual to see
i really like yours

Beautiful cue! I owned and played with a Gus cue similar to yours for ~7 years. As simple as it was, it attracted a lot of attention when I played with it. Even people who knew nothing about collectable cues would comment about how nice looking it was.

Thanks for posting your pictures.

Gus was the True Master! Way ahead of his time. Thankfully the Nut does not fall far from the Tree!
Great Classic here, thanks for the show.

That Gus player is simple perfection, and those are even his favorite colors, iirc.

Szamboti

That cue is the complete , perfect Gus Szamboti. No other words but simply the best.............. Rich aka the skunk

Gus's point work is as good as any custom maker's today. Timeless classic way ahead of the times.

Beautiful Gus stacked veneer cue. I have it's brother in rosewood and it looks and plays like Gus' magic touch is on it.

This Is Not My Cue But What'ya Think?

I've become fascinated with the thought of owning a Szamboti pool cue.
When I think of the greatest players, Willie Mosconi's name automatically comes to mind?

And when I think of the greatest & best names in cue-making, Szamboti also comes to mind?
The thought of owning such a pool cue is exhilarating and the cue on www.classiccues.com is the one I'd want.

Realistically speaking, it's a cue I could never afford but there is a cue reminiscent of the OP's cue design www.cornerstonecues.com.
The cue on Cornerstone is a new addition and is a early period Richard Black. And the points and forearm were made by Gus Szamboti in '75.

The mystique of a Szamboti cue is so phenomenal that when you get around such a cue, you are just drawn towards examining it.
And the thought of actually laying hands on such a cue and playing with it, that's exciting.......and owning such a cue...."exhilarating"...IMO.

p.s And the best part is boti2634's cue was made by Poppa Szamboti which truly makes his cue all the more special, rare, valuable and fascinating.
