Had my cue stolen about a month ago.....

Hank,
They only have video in the register area, and couldn't see the table. They said they were installing security video for the back door, where they probably left. I complained that I see people coming in and out all the time and their fire alarm is not working so it won't alarm when they open it.

Hey guys, long time lurker and first time poster.
About a month ago, I had my cue stolen when I went for a smoke outside. What kills me is that they stole my Mezz (about 5 years old, bought in Japan for around $500) and not my friend's TAD.
I've been looking at for sale thread here and others, also craigslist but it's been a month already and hasn't shown up. So I guess I wont find it anymore.

My reason for the post is to ask those that had their cues stolen:
Are you just paranoid now just leaving your cues unattended for 2 seconds?
I'm thinking of making use of the great deals here for used cues, but if I get one, I think I'm just going to be paranoid. Have you done anything differently since it was stolen? I know my Mezz weren't close to what most of you play but I really liked it.

Where in japan were you when you bought it? i've got a mezz that i've been dragging around with me now for about 6-7 years too. i'd be real upset if it got stolen. my model is discontinued so it'd be impossible to replace.

what model was it? any pics? where're you at so our az'rs local to you can keep their eyes pealed.

don't lose hope. a friend of mine had his cue stolen for 5 months and ended up getting it back

Pawn shop? Never really thought of that. There's couple in 20 min radius when I just googled it. Unfortunately, only picture I have with the cue have whole lot me and less of the cue....

Thank you for your help.

is it a picture you're ashamed to post..................?

I had a cue stolen from my car at my house. They stole everything in/on the car that they could take/detatch...

The cue was very important to me for memory's sake, and the case was just as big a deal. I dropped notices with pics at pawnshops, poolrooms, and bars, and even gave my cell phone number to anyone who ever went to a poolroom in case they saw it.

I had nightmares over killing whoever I saw holding the cue, and then going to jail for murder. I stayed up at night figuring out how to boobytrap my car so that if you moved the driver's seat back (I'm short), a shotgun would shoot you in the back of the head.

It's been years, now, and the nightmares are over. I am still paranoid, though, and if someone I know and trust is not specifically watching my cues, I will bring them in the bathroom with me.

I am sorry for your loss.

that almost happened to me. they were too busy ripping out my ignition system (they had to make sure they really didn't know how to hot wire a car!) that they forgot to check my trunk. they took everything but my cues. 1200 dollars later i was able to start my car again

unless i've known the person for a long time i don't leave my cues when i go to the bathroom. i usually take 'em with me

I don't need experts to lose their dinner with my poor form.
Actually, you can't see anything except for the shaft.

I don't know the model but it looks like Axi-607 with shell inlay.
It was united joint with no label on the shaft except united joint.
I bought it at a local pool hall in Atsugi, where I am from.

I hope so, I will keep on looking.

finding the other poolhalls

I'd think about (the other poolhalls in a 50-100 mile radius). At least get phone numbers and call them.offer small reward in good faith-leave them ph. The counter guys usally have some knowledge of cue venders in there own pool halls. The pawn shop is a place to ck at 30-60 days. ask if any have been pawned -and will come out from pawn-time period. The person could have pawned and will not come to pick it up. Most states have a list you can ck with the police, its content is all items pawned . Maybe you need to reevaluate where you were playing-and or friends. They'll get there's-usually sooner than later. Find something positive in the neg. ( another cue is great to get) maybe an AZ person will come to your rescue?? good luck god bless- mark

Thank you for all suggestions. I am actually in the process of buying a used Pechauer Cue.
I e-mailed Pechauer and Scott told me it's IV-9. Negotiating with the price to get it down to around 500, same price I paid Mezz for. I read some good thing here about Pechauer so I'm thinking of pulling a trigger sometime next month. It hit real well, I liked it.

p.s. I called around and said Mezz and some of them were like "?", is Mezz that unknown in US.

Never leave your cue out of your sight or hand, not even for a moment to go to the bathroom.

Don't trust anybody to keep an eye on your cue, they can become distracted and there goes your cue, the bad guy may even have his buddy distract him while he takes off with your cue.

A bad guy may even come into a pool hall with an empty case, just to steal a cue and place it in the case to make his exit go unnoticed. Think about it - pretty slick, crowded pool hall, who would know.

Thieves steal when the is opportunity . Never leave valuables in sight in your car when it's parked, GPS Units ( take the mount of the dash otherwise they now you probably have on in your car ), cue cases in the back seat, etc, etc.

It only takes a thief seconds to get into your car, home, office or anywhere they want if the opportunity is there.

There's a lot of good web sites with regards to, " Security Awareness ". Check them out, don't be a victim.

Sorry you had your cue stolen, I hope you get it back.

I had a micro chip installed in my cue. You still have to have a scanner to read the chip but at least it's there.

I still have moments of super paranoia when I turn around and my cue and case or out of sight. The cue theft thing is a real problem. I never leave my cue in the car and even take it with me when I go to the bathroom.

It pays to make friends at the pool room even with the guys that you might not want sleeping over at your house.
