Had my first run tonight...

I started playing seriously only a few months ago... Cleaned out my basement and made a decent pool room down there. ...Been practicing.

Tonight it paid off - I played 8 ball at my local bar and had my first real run... I broke and ran three racks in a row! Woo Hoo!!! Now, I know that doesn't seem like much to most of you, but boy I've never done that before. Do you remember your first run? (I'll bet you do.)

That was fun!

Do you mean the first time you ran a rack you ended up running two more or are you saying this is your first 3-pack? Either way good job. Thats pretty impressive if you just started playing seriously a few months ago.:)

I broke, sank a ball on the break, ran the rest and the 8. Did it two more times before I broke and didn't sink any balls on the 4th break.

Tim,

Not bad,,, expecially in 8ball, i've seen a couple 2packs before in 8ball, but theres just too much that can happen to stop a run in 8ball, clusters, n stuff.

The first time i ran two racks of 9ball, was about 4months after i started practicing all the time. It was on a 7ft, but the thing that made it nice was, i was shooting at everything, and stuff just fell. And of course on the 3rd rack i break, and miss on the 1ball lol.

But the other day, i had been practicing a new break spot, where i can squat my rock nearly perfect all the time, and did a 3 pack, would've had a 4 pack or more but missed the freaking 9ball lol!!!!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

But yea its always nice to see people pull off thier first B N R or two pack or more.

I guess there's always some luck involved... I only had one nasty cluster - in the second rack, but broke that up with an unlikely combo shot. Otherwise I had one tough kick shot and two long banks. I guess the main thing is that I didn't manage to screw things up.

What I am asking Tim is that the first night you ran a rack and ended up doing it 3 times in a row or have you ran racks before but ran 3 in a row for the first time?

Tim, it's a good thing you made nothing on you 4th rack or you could still be there, running racks.

Good accomplishment

Good job! A 3 pack is exciting, especially if you never have done it before. It is like a milestone in Pool, whatever game you are playing in Pool. Now that
you know you can do it, you can set your sights just a little higher.

I think even the best players who post here are immpressed when they put together a three pack, even though they have done it many, many times.

Congrats on your three pack.

Excellent! I once had two break and runs in a row playing 9-ball on a bar table and my opponents were not pleased to say the least...

I ran a rack once before, but the next break was like I hit a bag of dead mice!

Thanks to all for the good wishes. I guess I should add that the 4th rack was a reality check - a reminder that this game can be humbling.:o

Congrats Tim, it's an especially good feeling running out against a good opponent.

Keep up the good work.

I like your "dead mice" analogy. I think I might steal that.

So you're saying the second time you ever ran a rack of 8-ball, you went on to run a three-pack? I'm not a top player by any means, but I've run tens of racks of 8-ball, and never even gotten a two-pack (although I did make two consecutive 8 ball runs; the second one wasn't from the break), in practice or competition. That's quite an accomplishment, and you were right to come on here and brag!

The Ol' Bag o-Dead Mice is from golf... When you hit a 6-foot putt 4 feet.:D

Same here. I've run tens of racks of 9 and 8 ball, but no packages as of yet. :( I'd guess it really depends on how the balls are breaking, especially on a barbox.

Good job, Tim!

Great job, keep it up. I don't remember my first run, but I do remember how draining it was...all that mental energy to get the right shape on everything. Three in a row would have just been plain exhausting back then!!
