Nutshell: I just figured out Sunday while taking pics of my son hunting easter eggs that my phone has a video cam that records for 20 minutes! The last phone I had the camera sucked and video was like 30 seconds...

So anyway, for ships & giggles I put the phone near a pool table while I was bangin balls just to see how it looked...

really didnt look to bad as far as quality... to big to email myself the file and no data cable so.. oh well. happy to have the ability to vid myself without having to use a camcorder...

So today I made a tech-no-log-ical breakthough (LOL), I uploaded my first video to youtube HAHAHA! very exciting moment for me.

anyway, I was just banging some balls so don't shred me to badly if you watch it... wasn't really "trying" to hard... & missed a few easy shots cause my makeshift "tripod" for my phone/big time movie camera was a ashtray & a chair on top a table. afterall I didn't know I'd be a big MOVIE STAR!! hahahaha.

ANyway, what you think? and I dont really mean my shooting, it wasnt too great... but the video quality... is it ok ?? (ps. vid is 5 minutes long)

I share your awe! I think the video quality is great considering it is from a cell phone, and twenty minutes is way longer than I'd ever hope a phone coud record for. I'm gonna get that phone for myself since I am due for a phone upgrade from ATT.

This is off topic, but can you direct me someplace where I can learn how to make a link like you made in your post. I want to make a word become a link to another post in another thread. Any help would be appreciated. I would have PM'd this question to you but couldn't figure how to get one to you.
 
remove the *'s and spaces I put in this instruction...

put [u*r*l= (then here you put the link, web address) and then ] then here put put what words you want displayed then [/*u*r*l]

that should do it.

and come to think of it, when you responded to my post and quoted my link... when you were typing in your response, you could have looked up at the text you quoted from me and saw exactly what I explained... the raw text should have shown the format of how I made it look like that.

Dawg, thanks, I can insert a link doing that, but how can I make the link appear as the word "here" for example, instead of all the URL mumbo jumbo? Like you did - you made the link appear as "Dawg, bigtime movie star" instead of the URL info.

haha nice dawg. I'm thinking of upgrading my phone now. Sadly all the straighttalk phones don't seem to capture video. They barely play it too. Lame.
 
I changed the settings on my phone, but Im not sure it this one looks any better?

Dawg hits a couple balls, da remix.

oopsss top of screen at youtube says "This video is still being processed. Video quality may improve once processing is complete. " so guess I shouldnt have posted it yet.

youtube converts the video to a format it favors. Any conversion loses quality, unfortunately. If you could upload the video file, unchanged, that'd be good. Some place like filedropper.com would be good. People can't view it as a stream but they can download the whole thing and play it back to see the quality.

The quality is really nice for a phone no matter what but I'm curious what the absolute maximum quality can be.
 
Yeah, man, for a phone that's pretty good video. Now you got me wondering what my iPhone can do. haha!!

As for the play, you seem to have that Filipinio pump action going. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just watching the Filipinos tells you it's not, but it's probably something you picked up watching Efren too much and are subconsciously imitating it. That could lead to problems. I went through an period a dozen or so years back where I was squatting over shots like Strickland. I got right back into form after someone pointed it out to me and I went back to my stance.

re; iphone thing, and comment about wondering how good the phone vid quality can get... yeah exactly, I tried to alter the setting on my phone and move the height around a bit to see exactly how good I could get it... My buddy has the 3GS iphone, He video taped a tiny bit of us shooting but it was different lighting and not stationary (the phone) the quality looked pretty good.. I actually uploaded that one to send to him to see what his opinion was about the quality v. the quality he thinks his phone would do... We are gonna try to run a comparison tonight or tomoorow at the hall... if the iphone looks better quality that will be the straw that breaks the camels back on my delay in buying one...

re; efren/filipino "pump"... Nope didnt come from watching them. I dont watch efren, frankly I dont have time to watch anyone really. WHen I have time, I play. DUnno where that hitch comes from. SOmetimes its evident, other times not so much. WHere it came from, and/or what are the results to my stroke/game as far as it being a detrement or benefit... I really cant say. I can say, starting this year I am going to do everything possible to just play fuxin pool from here out... try to stop all the thinking and analysing etc,etc...

I'm a little tired of all of the thoeries and "does this work" or that work of whatever, pedulum v. piston, ghostball v. CTE, short bridge v. long bridge, this grip that grip, and I COULD GO ON AND ON, etc... etc... You know what, Im going to get down on the fuxing ball and Im going to shoot it in the pocket... and that next ball over there that I havta hit next? Im gonna try to hit it in the fuxin hole next... Im just gonna keep trying to hit these farkin balls into these holes cause you know what? That what I love to do. [/rant] lol.
 
Resolution is only one factor, quality of the lens, and type of CCD sensor are the other legs of the triangle.

Alot of people including myself were surprised to hear that the camera resolution on the Mars Rovers are only 1024x1024. The stitching software NASA uses produces those impressive panoramic landscape views.
