Hall and Rempe Out of World Open

I see from the email I just received that Hall and Rempe aren't ready to start playing yet(I think they were both injured or ill).

The first tiebreaker is based on coming in third in two or more of the qualifying tournaments. I just checked and there are no players who have come in third twice yet.

Therefore a lot of top players who have come in third once so far only have to finish in the top three this weekend to gain entry into Reno.

For anyone who is interested this is a list of players who have finished third(Jasmin Ouschan is the only player that came third and then came in the top two in a later tournament so there are nineteen players):

Strawn
Burbal
Crosby
Vidas
Luat
Matlock
Liu(Wei?) (I'm not sure which is the family name, lol)
Grey
Marquez
Tanaka
Schmidt
Diks
Pascasi
Lining
Foldes
Hoa
Condo
Horleifjson
Roschkowsky

What is the deal. Unless they are bed ridden you'd think they could at least show up to pick up their 5 grand. All they have to do is lose all their matchs. Are they afraid they'll embarass themselves or what.

hmm yes i agree with that mnShooter. don't get me wrong i'll reserve my judgement because i don't know exactly what's up with em. but you'd think they'd just freshen up, pull on some clothes, turn up and shoot a few racks!

I know i would for that money!

I think Buddy is pretty sick right now and won't get any better by playing long days of pool. He is showing what a class act he is by giving up his spot to another competitor that can perform to the best of their ability.

This disappoints me. I wish both of them the best of luck in dealing with whatever their particular situation is, but Jim Rempe is one of my favorite players and I wanted to see him have a shot.

This is really bad news if either of them planned on being in the top 100 for their tour cards next year. The list of players that need to finish top three is pretty impressive and I wouldn't be surprised if the top three finish played for one lucky player.

Didn't Foldes came in position three twice?
Otherwise they can give entries to the qualifiers who did best at the last tournaments.. (Matlock, Alcano, Luat, Diks)

If I read the email right it only includes third place finishes in the World Open qualifiers. Foldes already got in the NA Open based on his performances in the NA Open and tour card qualifiers, I believe.

Believe it or not, some people dont just show up for work for a paycheck. Some actually take pride in what they do. I respect their decision to opt out and let another player in.

does anybody know what's up with jim rempe then? nothing serious I hope...

I believe someone said Rempe had some back problems. Hopefully someone who knows can correct or confirm this.

This is the situation as far as I know, but I could be wrong. Hopefully it's not something too serious.

Looks like Rico Diks may take one of the spots as he has lost in the winners side final in London and will have a chance to play in the losers side final.

Buddy Hall

I spoke with Buddy a few weeks ago and he is having some health issues. I am not at liberty to say what they are but the long pool days at this point is not for him. He wishes he could play and will miss playing along with seeing some of his fans. I wish him well and hope his illness can be corrected soon.
