First off, congrats to the newest members. Balabushka definitely deserves it.
Ewa, I think maybe should have had to wait until some of the living legends were inducted. There are a ton of old road players who devoted their life to the game. Some because they loved the game and some because they hated the thought of working a real job. Earl is definitely deserving after all of his accomplisments. Can anyone think of any other players deserving?

Hi satman,

There was a movement afoot to promote Ronnie "Fast Eddie" Allen. Grady was asking players at the DCC to help recognize another player whose name escapes me. The current hall is way too political. Colorful characters from the past are being passed over because they were gamblers, hustlers, self promoters, etc. If people of stature like Earl, Allen Hopkins, Ronnie Allen and others like them are continually passed over to elect people of lesser talent but greater political savy or fame, no one but the people at the BCA and its Hall of Shame" will care. I'm waiting to see "Minnesota Fats" elected next before Ronnie Allen! That would really take the cake.

Johnny Ervolino
Jack Breit "Jersey Red" (deceased)
Johnny "Irish" Lineen (deceased)
Grady Mathews
Marshall "Squirrel" Carpenter
Eugene "Cincinnati Clem" Metz (deceased)
Leonard "Bugs" Rucker
Steve Cook (deceased)
Billy Burge "Cornbread Red"
Jose Parica
Jimmy Fusco
James Evans (deceased)

If Dallas West and Ray Martin are in, these guys most certainly deserve to be inducted.

Fats is in Kid. But, the rest of your post could have been Cut and Pasted from one of my earlier ones. You are totally correct sir.

No question Ronnie deserves to be in.

Nothing wrong with Fats being in there. Aside from name recognition, I hear he was a lot better player than people give him credit for. So he never beat Mosconi playing straight pool...his game was one-hole, anyway...and he helped one-hole become the offensive game that was carried on by Ronnie and Red. Before him it was make 2 and go sit in the dugout.

Nice to see Johnny Ervolino's name at the top of your list...the Velvet Foghorn of pool is one of my all-time favorites., and he makes one helluva gravy for macaroni!!

Voodoo~~~sicilian to the core

Hall of Shame

I guess I aptly named it. Well guys, that cake I referred to is now splattered all over my face. I know that. I think my fingers are faster than my brain. Sorry!!!!!!! Hey, this cake tastes pretty bad. Does this mean my literary license is revoked?

Hall

If I had to guess at who had the most fun at the DCC, Johnny is near the top of my list. Every time I went past the "lounge", Johnnie was on a table with someone. I used to sit and watch Johnnie and Toby play at the Vegas Cue Club for hours. With the passing of Mel Torme, perhaps the "Velvet Fog" nick name is OK! How does that guy have the energy to play all those hours? I gave up and went to bed. Next morning, he's still there!

Did Steve Cook play other games as well as one hole? I never saw Jersey Red play. How was his game? Cornbread Red is kind of a one hole legend. I hear people speak of Cornfed Red. Who was (is) that? Is it a mis-pronounciation or identity theft? Who worked hard to get Eddie Taylor into the hall? Perhaps the people responsible could be contacted about the rest of this "All Star" player list. Just a thought.

Not in the least Kid. Easy to miss Fats. They said for merritorios contributions. He did put a lot of miney in the game. Everything else you said was DEAD ON.

Steve Cook won a world 9-ball championship one year in the early 80s -- I'm almost positive of that.

The BCA is the wrong group of people to select Hall of Famers. The only way a proper Hall of Fame could be selected is if a group of the top ten or so current "legends" of the game got together and created a list.

Grady, Hopkins, Ervolino, Squirrel, Ronnie Allen, Mizerak, J. Fusco, Incardona, and maybe a couple other old timers could create a proper list.

Big Mistake

The addition of Earl Strickland now makes it official. The Hall of Fame is a joke and a disgrace. Anyone with Strickland's table manners (Or lack thereof) has absolutely no business being in the Hall of Fame. It's too bad his behavior is not dealt with instead of tolerated. He has always been a black eye to pool.

Perfect BP. That's the way they do it in major league baseball. Like you said, the BCA, "Today" has no business selecting a $300 cue, much less HOF members. Way too political a group.

I had the pleasure of playing Cookie Monster on the Florida 9-Ball Tour during the 80's. Great cueball, left you nothing EVER but had a pretty soft break. Didnt stop him from puttin 4-5 packs together...just didnt hit 'em very hard!!

Voodoo~~~has fond memories of playing many champions

You tellum Keith. Not only is Ronnie Allen the greatest One Pocket player ever, he, as you know, won many 9 ball and all around titles. This disgrace was brought on the BCA by the BCA it self. They count on the youngsters who have never had the pleasure to see Ronnie play, in his prime, to blindly believe their ignoring legends like Ronnie Allen is the right thing to do.

There are only a few one pocket specialists in the hall of fame:

Eddie Taylor
Boston Shorty
Buddy Hall
Efren Reyes
Eddie Kelly

Not even close to comprehensive
