I have installed many Hammerheads. I leave them pretty close to the original height. Maybe I'd take it down like a millimeter just to have a nice fresh surface, but barely at all.

Mine is still perfectly fine.

Thanks guys. I just had a little chip on the face of it. I went against the directions and used my shaper and scuffer to lightly get it back in shape below the small chip. It's all good now. It's staying on fine and no more chips.

Now to learn how to make a ball on the 8 ball break. My playing buddies are really appreciating me spreading the balls out all over the table for them when I break.
