does anyone have a format for a handicapped one pocket tournament? a new poolroom has opened in my area and they want to start a regular one pocket tourney but aren't sure what the format should be. I remember reading some posts on here about this before but i couldn't find anything in the search engine. all help would be appreciated.

its hard to handicap 1pkt just because it's so easy to lay down. obviously the only way to do it is by balls and break, ie. 8 to 8 and the breaks would be equal to 8 / 7 altho some people say the break is worth 2 balls. you could have a loser breaks option instead of alternate breaks.

you could always assign a number rating, ie. starting number is 8, and from there go up or down a number and the difference is the balls your racing to. if an 8 is playing a 6, then the spot would be 8-6, if a 7 is playing a 6, then the race is 8-7 and so on.

i dont think i've ever heard of a handicap 1pkt tourney before... good luck.

though handicapping is difficult, I think it's great you guys are trying it! I wish I had a local 1P tourney to play in. Just let everyone know up front that it is very difficult to set handicaps and if they all work together a good system will be the result. good luck with it.
